@saycats you can enter both 2D and 3D category, but the entries cannot share anything - concept, design etc, it has to be completely different for both entries.

@aesthetic :(( you can enter and share your work, but you are not able to win any prices. If you want, you can still join just for the motivation that contests and deadlines will give you. I'm really sorry the laws in Quebec are so bad.

@zyp hey, thanks for taking the time to answer people's questions! I re-answered some of them just do they know what's the "official" stance, but I really do appreciate your help!
We'll get back to you with an answer about the base human design (and the one about base mesh) as soon as possible.

We want everything in your entry to be yours. Everything on the concept sheet has to be made by you, including the sketches, silhouettes, design etc. from which you modeled.
You are free to use your own basemesh, but not somebody else's.

Understood, though I've noticed a lot of submissions are using make human for their base models.
Also while zbrush comes with its stock set of brushes and alphas, there are hundreds of alphas used that are unofficial.

I was curious what will fit in a marmoset (mview) file of 20 mb size. So I did a quick test. My old character 100k triangles with 4 shaders applied. Every shader with a 2k sheet of normal, albedo, metalness and roughnes textures.

What Rath said and it is a pitty showing progress shots should be mandatory, i realize this eliminates a few current in the works items, but fair is fair this is more about learning and community interaction, (i'd like to believe anyway) than prizes.

@rath-nikhil @zyp hmm, let me just say this - the works will be judged by professionals who will be able to see the progress shots (showing progress shots is mandatory). I have absolutely no doubt they will easily recognize what is original work and what isn't and they will disqualify any entry that they'll judge is not up to the standards.

And just throwing it out here for others, for some guidelines about the 3D entries, the FAQ might be helpful.

Just for anyone wondering if you can do a good job with cloning, as in using the see through in zbrush and replicate a silhouette on our base mesh then use retopology you can still do what you want though at least you have had to have done the strokes to get to that stage.

Just in case the harsh / strict rules deter anyone, you just have to put in the work like others.
Hope to see more updates to those that fall into the category of disqualifications and make an effort to change this.

I didn't mean to press that it is for your benefit that you learn to make things more appealing than to just use a tool that creates an appealing base like make human, that is really a hinder to progression in your artistic endeavors than anything else.

It is really a good thing in disguise i have to learn this also, so you are not alone.

Hey, I have a questioned regarding 3D character rules.

I am aware this is a solo contest but are you allowed to have your character rigged and animated by someone else? For example doing the final pose and maybe some animation stuff in the marmoset viewer?
Does anyone know whether this is ok?
