For whatever it's worth (which admittedly isn't all that much coming from me haha), I completely agree with Vonschlippe's suggestions, especially the one about the back foot. I think it looks a lot more natural, it also makes it so that the back shoe doesn't look like it's identical to the front (obviously the shoes are the same design, but in their current state they look almost like an exact copy, when it should look like different sides of the shoe).

I value any and all critiques people are willing to give me so I appreciate you chiming in for whatever that is worth. Looking at it now I can definitely see the issue with the shoes looking the same and I'm definitely gonna give it a bit more work before moving on.

Quick update on the line art before I go eat lunch. I brought the hair up a bit, fixed the shoe, and simplified some of the shapes a bit. I also finished the lines for the sword(which took way longer than I'd like to admit). Just posting a before and after pic for now, I'll add some colour to it this afternoon.

Hello again, I finally finished it. I think it's probably the best thing I've ever done and I'm very happy with how it turned out. As always any critiques are welcome.

Finally back to doing my homework after that two day distraction. I started doing the two point perspective drawing of a building, I know it isn't on a street corner but the principles are the same. I blocked in some basic colour to differentiate the direction of surfaces. I might try to add in all the furniture and stuff another day.

I know some of the interior is off but I reworked it so many times already and I know to fix it I would have to do a pretty major overhaul to a lot of the structure so it is what it is.

Started to work on another character, figured I'd draw a witch since it's spooky day. I feel like something isn't quite working with the pose but I've been looking at it for hours and I can't figure out how to fix it.

Hips look a bit too small and I think you have overdid perspective of the torso, it looks like her chest is right at the camera and suddenly her head is far back.

@pitrek121 Thanks for the comment, I knew there was something wrong with her hips but I didn't even notice the problem with her head.

I'm not done with the final line art yet but figured I'd post an update since I think I'm done with it for tonight. I brought her head down and her boobs up slightly, slimmed down her torso a bit, and sorta adjusted the angle of her hips so they are going back a bit more. I also spent about an hour trying to get her hand to a point where I didn't hate looking at it.

edit: Decided not to make a new post for this so I'm not spamming the forum with every little update...

I went back and did some extra work on the last character I made tonight. I decided to try and do some actual rendering, added a couple extra highlights, and I coloured my line art. Overall I think this was a success.

It came out really nice but you robbed her of the pelvis look on your own piece with katana girl, whole dark blue plane is front of her pelvis, witch girl has very similar pose of pelvis just other angle and her legs stick out top of the pelvis not the bottom like you did correctly with katana girl

Man I loved looking at all these, was so fun. You did such a good job on those characters. My favorite is the katana girl, super cool pose and design. I just joined the first class and seeing all your progress has really inspired me. Can't wait to start mine now and see more from you!

@pitrek121 yeah I knew something was still off with the hips but I had spent so long trying to fix them already that I just decided to move on with the piece.

@brad100 I'm glad you are enjoying it even if half of it is somewhat off topic, It's always nice to hear someone likes the stuff you make. Looking forward to seeing your journey!

So funny story, I was watching the digital production 2 video today and I was going to start working on more homework, but then Marc started talking about blending. At this point my brain decided I needed to make my brushes better so I started fiddling all my settings and before I knew it I did another drawing.

Katana girl in a more anime style this time. The anatomy is mostly(?) correct I think... I did this without a reference again because I wasn't really planning to go this far...

I always figured I would have a hard time with a self directed course because I am easily distracted but at least I'm getting distracted by doing art even if it isn't part of the curriculum. Tune in tomorrow to find out if I can stay focused long enough to get through digital production 2.

I made it through digital production 2. Decided to recreate an emoji from one of the discord servers I'm in as a vector character. I scaled it to different sizes to show that the quality remains the same(the smallest one is the emoji for reference).

I haven't quite decided what I'll do for the box art thing yet but I'm sure I'll think of something. I'll update this post later if I get started on it.

edit: I finished my lineart for katana girl version 2. I think I'll put it on the box art for the next project. I spent a long time on this and I'm still not certain about some of the anatomy but I'll look at it again tomorrow...

I think I'm done with this for now, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out I think. Still need to make the text for my box art and turn everything into smart images so I can distort them but I think I'll work on that tomorrow.

Finished the box art, it's super basic but I think I understand the idea behind smart objects at the very least. Clip studio doesn't have a layer styles function so I couldn't really play around with anything like that unfortunately. I tried making my own font which isn't really something I've ever done before and probably not something I will do again if I can avoid it... creating logos and graphics really isn't my thing.

I'll probably work on part 2 assignments this afternoon or something.

Started working on some of the anatomy exercises. I had shading on all the shapes but somehow it all got deleted and I didn't have time to redo it yet...

edit: redid the shading on those shapes and added a couple more studies to the sheet. Updated the picture rather than uploading a second one.

I think I'll start doing more full faces in the next couple days. Maybe just do some portraits? I dunno. I'll let future me figure it out.

I spent all day working on this portrait . I've never really tried to do a more realistic painting before so I had quite a bit of trouble with this. I know some of the facial structure still isn't perfect but I think I got it close enough to where it doesn't look inhuman anymore. I would like to be able to get rid of the lines entirely but I just can't figure out how to render something without them... it just ends up looking like a mess. Anyway I definitely didn't think about how difficult this portrait would be to paint before starting but I think it turned out okay considering my lack of painting experience. It looks pretty good if you shrink it down or look at it from really far away .
