Well, it's been a few weeks now. Had to travel to renew my visa, work, life, etc etc.
Finally getting into term 3, which seems will take some time just looking at some of the excercices. Looking forward to all of it though.
First I got through the main video for clothes and folds. Clothes and folds is one of those things I also kind of brute forced my way through, so I knew some of the basics like having the naked model under the clothes, or the main idea behind tension points.
As usual, going through all this more formally really helps review and refine some of these concepts.
And so we started the main excercice, clothed model.
first the sketch of the body under the clothes and identifying the tension points or tension areas.
Next main flats, clothes outlines and a bit of details on the body. Added a quick background to emulate the original and blurred it out to hide the fact that it's just random blobs of colors. Just want to get some contrast there.
Then main shadows and some details on the girl
Finally highlights and some more details
By the end of it, I think the dress turned OKish. the girl really lacks detail and doesn't really look good, but it was just intended to have the basics to focus on the dress (The face looks funny, the hand is awful, etc).
Even then, for a first try, it's ok. Not great really. I clearly need to try again with another model now that I got some practice in.
Still, it was good to be back into these exercices.
As usual, a bit of the manga to go along with the ongoing progress.

It's cheezy, but I think the manga really shows the week to week progress!
