Hey everyone, my name is Daniel.

I'm currently a 20 year old from Montreal who is soon to be a computer science student. I'm here because I finally started to draw again last year after having stopped throughout most of my teens.

I loved drawing as a kid but I got this idea that drawing from imagination was some sort of talent I'd never have. Now I understand that a lack of fundamentals was the main reason I couldn't really get to the next level so I'm excited to go through this course with you all.

I have done some study coming into this as well having completed most of Drawabox and Proko's figure drawing course, but I still have a lot to learn.

I'm creating this topic so that I feel obligated to post somewhat regularly and be able to look back on my progress later on.

Feedback is always welcome

To anyone interested in my Drawabox journey, here's my Drawabox profile, as well as a few images from the later lessons:

I'll be posting some of the assignments I've done for Term 1 soon

Draw a Box!! These look really good, I can't wait to see your assignments!

Man this looks insanely well, Lines so crisp you can hear them. I need to see your perspective assignments when you get there.

Thanks guys! As promised here are my assignments for the day...

Term 1

So starting off with some of these practice exercises, I can definitely see how my previous courses helped in identifying landmarks and drawing 3D forms freehand.
I'm pretty happy with how they turned out but my ribcage, pelvis, and joint placements weren't placed super precisely.

Hey Daniel, welcome.
Really impressive work and studies so far - you have a really strong foundation on line work and perspective from your DrawABox exercises. Cant wait to see more, keep it up!

Hi Daniel! Welcome to the forums! Your work already is just .. WOW! Great work at drawabox and I look forward to seeing your progress!

oh wow thats really amazing! I am excited to see your work over time! ^^

Those gestures look amazing, just what i would expect lines flow so nicely I can feel the energy of the pose clearly. I hope to see more soon.

Dang love your work! These figures are fantastic, love your mannequin. These are so solid. I can't wait to see more! Keep it up!

@playforwho89 @Lockenheim Thank you once again

Was painting my room this weekend so didn't have as much time for practice.

I think I felt some improvement particularly in my 2-minute gestures this week. I'm still trying to figure how to best simplify the legs from a straight on front/back view though. For example, the model's left leg in the final pose. If anyone has any tips that'd be appreciated.

I also finally got around to doing the first assignments for the Perspective and Photoshop portions of the class and the perspective seemed relatively straightforward for me.

For the pen control one, though, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to sacrifice accuracy for line confidence or vice-versa so I just did a mix of both. I also seemed to have a hard time getting smooth gradients on my pen pressure.

12 days later

Hey, so it's been much longer than I would have liked but here are the rest of my assignments for Photoshop for Digital Prod. 1:

If anyone was able to nail #4 for the image adjustments, I'd love to hear how you did it!

Not sure why the castle looks a bit off.

I don't think I used the color burn tool all that well here.

Some obvious stretching from liquifying but oh well.

Thanks to anyone checking these out and feedback would definitely be very appreciated! Next post should hopefully be much sooner.
