Hi there reader,
I'm a junior 3D game artist, working everyday to get better and produce more and better art!
I think it's important to strive to learn or practice something each day, whether it be art or technology. You can find me here with high resolution renders: https://www.artstation.com/artist/dominiquebuttiens

Hey man nice work. I totally agree with the learn and practice something everyday. With that being said, seeing all the 3d artist on cb makes me really want to get back into it again. Great work you have here. The sword like weapon is my favorite. The highpoly detail is awesome. Going into the project did you have a triangle count in mind?
Wish I could add more but i'm not a 3d artist. From my eyes its good. Keep up the good work. Look forward to more work from you.

Hi Malcolm thanks for the reply!

When I started the sword project I just wanted to get back into Zbrush after not using it for at least a year or so ^^ - after doing the sculpt and not thinking of anything else, I decided to use it to learn how to use Quixel, the lowpoly is not meant as a truly optimized model for game purposes. (example: its about 10k, most of it being the little orb keychain ;D) It's definitely in the category of 'hero prop'

I appreciate the feedback! I also think it's perfectly fine for a non-3d artist to give feedback, I appreciate the input and your time

My advice if you want to do anything, whether it be zbrush, 3D, concepting... :
Start out small, simple goals, but do it for like 30 minutes on a daily base. When I was in a slump, only doing my workhours for my job and nothing after getting home, I'd get so annoyed because I felt like I wasn't really 'getting things done' or improving or being creative. So I started with my 30-minutes rule. It evolves depending on my week. Ranging from 30 minutes to 4 hours of learning and practicing  (Thats how this Cleaver came to be!)
My basic idea behind was: We all can spare 30 minutes of our day, it's just 1/48th of our day.

But hey what do I know, I'm just a junior
Thanks again for your time!

That's some awesome stuff! Maybe I should start learning zbrush xD

Looking forward to seeing more of your 3d stuff!

Great job! Love the swords! How did you make the lamp it looks so real!

Thanks everyone!
You really brighten up my day

The lamp was modelled in 3dsmax, a high poly first and then a low poly (hero level prop) and was meant to try out Substance Painter. After trying out Quixel I thought it was only fair to give Substance a chance as well ^^ - I used Marmoset to render it out (PBR workflow).

Great stuff man, I am just starting out in 3D modelling.

Thanks for the advice. I know what you mean. I was in a similar spot with my art last year. I'll do that. I want to learn little by little. Right now I'm just learning maya and zbrush
