Hello everyone! Recently I have been getting bad headaches from being on the computer. They have been so bad lately that it's preventing me from getting any painting done which has been really discouraging. Does anyone else get headaches from the computer screen while working? If so, how do you prevent them? What is the best posture to have? How many breaks should I be taking? How far away should you be from the screen? Is working on a laptop (a small 12 inch screen) making it worse? Any help on this subject would be super helpful to me! Thanks guys

Hello! I have that issue sometimes. I've found that the triple twenty rule works pretty well--take a break every twenty minutes to stretch, look away from the screen for twenty seconds (farther away the better), and blink twenty times. Also, Gunnar Optiks sells computer glasses that cut down on screen-related eye strain. I have a pair and they really help when I have to be painting for long periods of time.

For posture, I try to keep my back straight and legs uncrossed while working. Doing some aerobic exercise in the morning before working also helps prevent back strain for me. Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the tips  I'm definitely going to try that! I've found after taking a few days away from the computer the headaches have subsided a lot! I am going to the eye doctor tomorrow to hopefully get some glasses for the computer. Thanks again  glad I'm not alone lol

I have it too sometimes. Not as often as in the past. A good monitor is what's most important or should be checked first. The hertz of a screen and brightness is important. Here a list of things I do to prevent any aches. Hope you find them useful.

  • Exercise or take a walk away from any electronic monitor
  • good monitor with good hertz
  • lower brightness
  • dark Photoshop skin
  • canvas not pure white
  • 100% organic/biological eye drops for dry and irritated eyes (A. Vogel works great)
  • look away at something regularly so your eyes won't be focused on one spot the entire time
  • don't sit too close to your screen

Got these a while back since I had similar problems, worked like magic. https://gunnar.com/product/emissary/

And taking a habit of looking away from the screen as often as possible to relax your ciliary muscles (used to contract/relax the eye lens behind the iris) will also definitely help!

thanks so much for the help and tips everyone! I will definitely be trying these
