I really want to use black in her color scheme, so i’m going to add certain elements to be refined later that she is a “light” character, so her body will emit light in certain places. Also, still working out the robot face. Going for a rebel look to her, which will translate over into the robot with a “symbol” of hers (she’ll be sporting it on the patch on her sleeve) gashed into the metal. testing out my rendering of that effect in this update

Here’s her situation so far! Her personality is starting to show with the addition of her rugged clothes, which is supposed to contrast with her sleek body, kind of her way of showing that she has autonomy and isn’t just a human looking robot.

another shot of the full image, her legs are going to be a matte texture, and the robot is going to have a sort of plasma ball effect going on in the visor to help translate that this is a light character.

I feel like it´s still a bit off, composition wise. The Diagonals of the robot´s canons and the gun of her are making it difficult to read. I am not sure what the best solution would be though, but maybe you should dismiss the idea of her having a gun. Because those diagonals lead the eye away of her (in my opinion). But I could be wrong all together. Nonetheless, your character is pretty cool! Keep pushing and pump it to the max!

I am agreeing with @matteo here, the robots canons are a distraction in the composition. I do like that she is holding her gun on her shoulders and do not find it that distracting. But man, great work so far, I am in awe

@sanguine I’m pretty sure each different composition has about 20+ hours of work in them. and my hand has sharpie marker all over it from drawing mecha parts on it for reference... XD

@matteo @evehartman I did get rid of the robot guns in the composition, which brought out her silhouette a lot more and got rid of a few tangents, I can fill the empty space with some clouds, but i think i do like the result. I’ll post some progress soon!

Maybe by having her looking off into the distance the same way the mech is might put her eyes in alignment with the golden ratio line.

Her looking at the camera feels more personal, but her looking away gives a sense of a bigger world than what fits within the border of the picture.

I don't know, clearly you know what you're doing. This is coming along great!

okay, so i felt like the skyscraper was crowding them too much, so i decided, hey, why not replace the skyscraper with something i like and enjoy painting! Clouds! potential for lots of subtle colors. and also that calls for some reworking on the reflections in the visor, but that’ll be easy-peasy.

Perhaps a lot of atmospheric perspective could help with the skyscraper. Giving it a heavy sky blue tint could remove the clutter, but keep the personality of the world in tact.

Clouds are nice too though.

I might play around with the skyscraper a little more then, or perhaps a skyline in the distance?
and with the clouds, i intend to do something kinda like this in the end, where the colors in the clouds are similar to the color in the main character. except i’ll throw in a unique color on her to harmonize her with the background, yet set her apart at the same time.
