Sketched some illustration ideas and varied the background of the prefered one a bit. Next I definitely need to finish the character concept before I start with the illustration ^^°
Painted some clothing-variations and switched my intention of a traditional fantasy styling to a more modern version for the final character. To emphasize her personality I wanted a light dress which would not bother her while she fights respectivily dances but also would give her a solemn aura. Beside that her name means dawn and espacially in the morning, dawn comes with mist so the loose bands symbolizes the morning fog and furthermore many modern chinese dance performances come with such cloth so it matches her fighting technique.
Oh boy, this has to be one of my favorites. I really like the direction so far, your character is really unique. The fact that her fan is made out of light is really smart and it helps the viwer understand which 'faction' (light vs dark) she belongs to. Will definately keep an eye out for updates :).
Maybe it would be cool if she actually forms those loose bands out of mist. Or even part of her dress. That would make it a lot easier for her to fight. Might be a silly idea tho, all of these look awesome!
Many thanks for your comment @Firathion - I really appreciate it and it brings me back to motivation ^-^ (was a little frustrated moments ago) Your idea is anything but silly I really like it and I thought about the bands as very VERY thin fabric with some kind of dewdrops or stuff like this - will try this in the final rendering of the character and I will definitely include your idea to let them look a little "foggy" ^^
Never ever participate in a competition during exams ^^° But I started, so I will finish this. Finally had the time to finish my character concept - will do the rest of the concept sheet within the next days so I'll have enough time for the final illustration.
Oh and thanks again to @Firathion - the idea to give the bands a misty look definetely brings the character to a new level.
The design is stunning, delicate and detailed! Really like the dynamics in the illustration drafts, perhaps tilt the bottom drafts 90 degrees? (although I now see that you made a pond in the backrgound, that might not work haha )
Oh man she looks so insanely awesome! She kinda reminds me of Karma from League of Legends. Loved that character so this one is equally awesome if not more Seriously this is such an amazing idea!
Finished Character Sheet - will write her story during the next days and hope to find enough time to draw the illustration until the deadline

Aaaaaaaaand done ^-^ This was really fun and a great practice of how to use different light sources. I've learned a lot! If you see any mistakes or things I should refine pls leave a comment
