Great design, and your overall pose and layout are a lot more readable than your previous color version. Great work!
Even if you don't do chrome, some of your lighting and rim lighting are very soft and diffuse, making him in parts look like he is made from a very matte material. The places where you have stronger, sharper highlights, like on the upper torso, totally work, but you might try carrying that effect down into his lower torso, legs and arms.
I'm torn about commenting on the rendering of the planet: On one hand, it feels dingy and not as bright as a real planet would be/could be as seen from space. I don't have the references on me, but check out a few that I posted ot RGDraw's thread: The atmosphere on the planet could look really bright and shiny as seen from space. On the other hand, you don't want the background to distract from the main character. So I'm not sure which way to suggest, but at least check out those references and see what you think.
And if you don't have time of any of that feedback because you're creating two entries (you're insane, btw! ) you still have a solid entry here you an be proud of. Good luck!
