Glad my suggestion for the mace was useful. It does look good, and I love the face that it's on a chain that can extend. Here's an additional suggestion: Instead of having lots of little spiky crystals(?) on his morningstar, what if there were fewer of them and they were larger? That would echo the shapes in his shoulders even more, and also make for a stronger silhouette. Here are two examples of what I mean:(Artwork by Johannes Helgeson for the game Spirit Lords, which I art directed, so I confess to being totally biased here towards this design approach. But hey, if it works for your character too, go for it! And if it's not where you want to go with it, that's cool too.)
I think that's a good suggestion. Don't worry about being bias bro. I will definitely try it out and see how I like it. Minus the big energy crystal shoulder things( I should know what they are but I'm still kinda unsure), he is kind of normal in a since. Stylized body but not super pushed. I do like the concept of C with the big weapon.Again awesome feedback.
Also it's cool to hear you art directed that game. Nice design work from Johannes as well.
Some sketchy compsI plan to do a few more.
Realy like 3. its way more Dynamic than the Other onesBut the Face on 2 is awesome as well
My vote goes to nr3 as well, I really love the pose there!
Hi Bro !
Looks awesome! I prefer to 2nd picture.
Really cool character, I prefer something like #1 or #2, but with a lower point of view. He has this cold and bulk feel that reminds me of characters like Magneto, Darth Vader, M. Bison and Thanos. So I would go in a path like those characters illustrations. Good job so far!
@Mocart I like those as well. I'm thinking of using the face of 2 somehow. @joycew-art thanks for the feedback. I like the pose as well. @Slava_Gedich thanks for the feedback bro. @alykam Those were some of my inspirations actually. Darth Vader and Thanos mainly. I can try #1 and #2 with a lower perspective. Thanks for the suggestions and feedback.
I think the action shot (3) would be awesome if you could pull it off. It's really dynamic!
@mdashow Thanks for the feedback
Maybe I'm too late for the voting and you started with the final composition already. I like no. 3, it looks dynamic and powerful.
Your not. I didn't start it yet actually. I've been working on my 3d character.
Personally i'm all for no 1. A character doesn't always need to be in a super foreshortened or dynamic pose to look cool. And in this particular case his slow, confident walk make him look like a total badass.
As for the design it's really interesting. He looks quite different from your usual characters and it's nice to see that you are pushing yourself :). He kinda looks like a cooler version of marvel's thanos lol :P.
I like the idea for #3, but both arms and his leg are oriented in the same direction. I would try to put in some contrast in the composition to avoid some of that same-ness.
If I have some time later I can try to do a quick paint over. Maybe it would help seeing it from a fresh perspective?
@Firathion I like 1 for all the same reasons. This was an interesting and different character indeed. My character would beat Thanos by the way @glubglubz I wouldn't mind a paint over. Maybe you can get the armor bits working better because when I tried to fix things, I noticed things would clip and not really work. It's a design flaw really.
I might try a few character iterations.
I know its not perfect, but I hope this helps. I will admit that I definitely lost a lot of his bulk. Adding a some depth and contrasting directions in the pose gives it some more life.
@Firathion does have a pretty good point though. If you do decide to use #1 or #2 I would recommend adding a more dynamic camera angle to add some drama.
Thanks a lot. Seeing this still shows how the armor design is "not working" I do love the pose. #1 and #2 are great because the character doesn't deform much. But I also don't want to cheat it. I'll rework the design or I'll just do another character.
The dynamic pose on the right side looks great. You can add or delete some elements you don't like in the design.
Sorry guys, I haven't been updating this very well. I will update better for now on. New concept and sketches
I like this one a lot! Very cool!
