I'm glad you think so @Mellowochi, thank you! Good suggestion; I'm currently working on finishing his reference sheet and added a motif to his armor where I could add more of the highlight color. It won't be too much but might be just enough.

After a little break, I finally started doing the illustration!

My concept is Isaiah powerfully standing before the ancient temple he used to be a guardian of. Smoke and his corrupted magic spreads around him while he is ready to strike, probably a last killing blow on his victim from which perspective we see the scene.

Nice work, great additions with the cog-wheel details! The lantern with the green light suits the dark theme best, good decision. I also like the dynamics of your first illustration draft, so keep it up!

hey there! I really like the colors and the general vibes. I also feel something weird about this but i can't really grasp it.. well first that step on the rock isn't really coming across as believable to me it looks kind of off. I don't really know what else to criticise but maybe this invites others to also comment! ^^

Very nice design and great work on the composition! a bit more separation between BG and FG... Its all in the details now, would love to see more colors and variations! Rock on!

I agree with a lot of the stuff said! This is really awesome, but I do think maybe you could push some values harder maybe? Mainly for getting a stronger feeling of foreground and background, not that it's not obvious, just to improve it even further! I love the rendering of his armor is really nice so far too btw, it feels really solid

Oh my. Definately a top contender when it's finished.
Both the concept, details, color choices, brush work - it's all spot on.

The only thing I could give any kind of input on that would give it an edge is that the illustration piece doesn't contain any narrative elements yet. I hope you'll get to that though.

I made the background brighter to have greater contrast between foreground and background. Also, I'll look into what kind of narrative elements I could place into the scene. Thank you really much for the suggestions!

Here is a small update - I rather focused on the foreground and the character so far and not really on the details of the background.

Afer looking at this a lot, I decided to finally call the illustration finished.

I was thinking about what kind of storytelling elements I could possibly place into the drawing. Since I wanted the scene to be easily readable, to keep it simple and have it not too crowded, I just added some minor elements: I added some fight marks to the wall, some damage caused by Isaiah's weapon, small hints of what has happened there. His magic is spreading around him, showing his takeover and his negative influence on the place.

Thoughts and opinions would be still very welcomed!
