Ra is the Goddess of sunlight, I wanted to try and capture the feeling of weightlessness, cheer and innocence.
Her design is based on the Egyptian sun God, and as I was reading around the mythology I found it interesting that the snake is often used as a symbol of duality. I then had the idea to represent the forces of darkness as snake - like creatures, and to restrict her offensive ability solely to the snake of her headpiece. This captured the symbology very nicely; the only source of light in the illustration is also the most destructive force and the snakes representing darkness are the only entity the viewer can empathise with.

Thinking she fights with some form of khopesh/shotel and sun/light magic (basically hot and burny) that comes from her lil snakey friend.

Designing some clothing. Please do point out the bits you think are working well cos I'm feeling kinda stuck at this point

I love it all so far! Her design looks so majestic and I love how flowy her clothing looks

In the 1st I like the covering from the hips over the legs.
In the 2nd I like her back being open with the wing coming out.
In the 4th I like how the pieces hang from the side of the head over the shoulders.
In the 5th I like the design of the wings and how large the gloves and boots are.

Looks great! The pose is really cool for the illustration, but maybe she could look at us so we could see her face better

I like that 3rd pose the best, I just wish the front wasn't covered up so much. Perhaps you could keep the pose but move the camera around?

I tried my best to fiddle with the first composition, but ultimately I found this pose to display the design the best. I've got the camera looking up a bit more which I'll play up with the background elements to push the perspective.
I'm planning to put in some indescript creatures of darkness for her to be fighting, probably dragon-y things so they'll coil round and look scary in the back

startin to tidy some stuff up and I've added her foes
I think I'm pretty happy with the colours, but I know I'm going to struggle with the monsters. I want them to have a black scaly texture and I'm not really sure how that's going to interact with the bright orange lighting. Guess we'll see how it goes xD
