I took a break from this project for the past week and had a few composition ideas when I came back to it. I feel that the first illustration piece was too straight forward and simplistic, too easy and so I wanted to make it more interesting.

Right now I'm gravitating towards no.2 and no.3, they're both essentially the same sketch flipped and recomposed into a new composition. I need some feedback deciding which to choose.
*For no.2 the background is something like a storm cloud filled with the wails of the poor souls who still lust for her song.

@rgdraw Haha, thanks!! I'm trying to combine both the story in no.2 and the mood of no.3. I feel like there's just something about no.3 that's also drawing me in emotionally.

Did some more tweaks and variations before I'm off to work.

This is what I came up with trying to combine no.2 and no.3. I think that the background has too much motion in it so I'll try a different approach later, But I'm starting to like the pose of her. I think I should turn the torso and head more towards the viewer, might look much better and more fluid. She feels a little bit stiff to me the way she is right now...
Or is it me not making the right decisions because I've been staring at this for too long... I feel like my train of thought is a little foggy...

If you think there's emotion in it then you should totally go for it, that's what makes a painting better!
I like the new version it's really great, keep up like that you're on the right path ! And of course you can take a break some time to time if you feel foggy

Ayy!! I think I've got the mood and pose down

I managed to turn her around just a little bit more and got the angle of her 'tail" just right in perspective. Also removed a lot of the energy and sense of motion from before while still retaining the clouds of hollow souls. Now I can go and finish up the concept sheet with piece of mind haha

Here's a rough for the concept sheet. I think I've got all the information needed and I'm happy with the composition of the elements. This took me SOOO long to do hahaha

I'll be going back and forth between this and the illustration adding in details, some piercings here and there (or maybe not), I'm not sure yet. But yeah, this is today's update. Let me know if I missed something or made a mistake
