Allright!
I finished it! Was quite the challenge (pun intended) to paint this illustration but working with the mindset of creating something for a product really helped staying on the right track!
It was a lot of fun creating the concept sheet and figuring out how to get the ideas and themes across not only with the character sketches but also with the little ornaments around the frame (yes Alphonse Mucha is awesome!).
I've learned alot during this challenge especially about my process of creating art it's problems and shortcomings. That's what I am going to focus on in the next few months.

Allright,
the idea is: After the armies of light and dark have clashed on the battlefield, one side won the fight (the dark side of course) and there are only some skirmishes here and there the giant Mimr approaches the fields. Led by his zeolots he goes around collecting the weak champions left behind to add them to his entourage.
If someone is foolish enough to resist or attack him he'll crush them mercilessly.
I'll post some more design ideas later. c:

Different version!
He is kept calm by the zeolots with special incense. Once the effect fades away he sees even them as "collectables".

So, here are a few composition/mood ideas I had for the illustration. While doing them I realized the giant could be waaay more impressing if I am going to make him a lot taller. On the one hand he's going to look more dangerous and intimidating, on the other hand a lot of the fine detail will be lost.
That's why I am still not 100 % sure which one of them I am going to work with.

Jeebus dem brushstrokes. Gorgeous.

All your comps look fairly similar. Maybe explore some different compositions. I think 2 would look really cool at a lower, worm's eye angle.

I like no.4 illustration. It show the contrast of how big is the back character compared to the front one. And it fits good in the page.

Thanks guys for the helpful input! I'm going to use the second composition. It has the most potential especially when it comes to atmosphere.
Here is the line sketch I did adding the needed details and fixed the flawed perspective. I'm sure there are still a few mistakes but I'm going to weed them out in the painting process.
