I think what you need is some cast shadows on the rocks he's standing ( nice work btw)
Thanks @mr_dessin! I am glad you like the new hand! I was worried I wouldn't be able to pull that off... maybe not perfect yet, but it's much more like the holographic look I wanted. The lightning is a better single light source now. The scepter was difficult... but now I've got this idea that it's a Scepter AND sword. I'll do some concept drawings of that later.

It's looking really nice. The composition is quite epic! I would dial down the saturation a bit, and maybe throw some warm hues in those black shadows. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Hey @sanguine! Thanks for the helpful suggestions! I dialed down the saturation. I don't know what you mean by adding warm hues into the shadows though. When I colourized the shadows a bit the whole peice looked flat. Could you explain what you were meaning?
Looks great! What I'm saying is that the darkest darks that we see usually still have some hue to them. So, for example, i think the black underneath the blue cloth thing at the bottom of the image would look better as very dark blue instead of black.

Wow this looks more and more powerful! You do a great job, keep doing!Maybe the hero needs more space on top, you could add more lighting effects in the sky and/or make the staff bigger and more readable.
I love the direction so far! I would also maybe add something like a enemy unit, tree, wildlife, mountain, etc. for a better sense of scale and just how big (or small, but not likely) the hero is.

Did you cropped the canvas little bit smaller again in the last update? I see that hahaIf the troops belong to the hero, blue is working well.
