Dark Side

Cute, unassuming, and dangerous. Akala is a wolf in sheep's clothing entrusted with delivering high priority packages for the Dark Side.
Together with her companion Bork, they dash across the land to deliver messages and items of great importance.
If danger threatens, Akala's trusty halberd, Raitono, is more than enough to handle anything in their way.
Akala and Bork pride themselves on the fact that they have never missed a delivery.

Hey, long time warrior, first time poster.

I really want to use this year's Art War to create a character in the vein of Red Riding Hood. Taking inspirations from characters like Rory Mercury (http://bit.ly/2Abbt6S) and Ruby Rose (http://bit.ly/2kXWytY). A character that isn't quite what it appears to be at face value. Cute. Unassuming. And most importantly, dangerous.

Here are some really early concepts. Not a huge fan of any one in particular, so aspects from numbers 5 and 6 will be taken further and combined. Large proportional changes will also be made. I'll definitely get closer in the next image to what I am looking for. Honestly the 3D will change a ton I am sure. But either way I know this stuff can be cool to see in progress.

Youtube follygon?
I like the concepts so far. 5 is really nice. Hopefully you keep the hair gradient. I like number 3's hair. Going from black to purple and accents of yellow look nice. I'm personally a fan of the bigger weapons like the ones shown in concept #4 and @5. Keep up the good work.

A lot of things are going to change on this character as I work on it more and more. Here is a little timeline as I adjust proportions of the character to find what I am looking for. Which initially was cartoony, then more anime-like, and now maybe somewhere in between I am trying to get away from the initial concepts style quite a bit at this time.

I start with a sphere in ZBrush, and then append additional primitives to form the parts of the body. As you can see in the image I started with a much taller figure. From there I wanted to keep going shorter and exaggerate certain areas until I found shapes that I liked.

Now it's a challenge of threading that needle to find that appealing character that can look cute but also dangerous.

Been adjusting a lot of proportions and just started to block out color. Here is a quick screen grab of where I'm at. I have a bunch of unfinished subtools, but will post those soon too.

Some changes I would recommend are kinda aesthetic changes.
I did a Paint over because I felt it would be easier to visually show what I mean instead of writing only.

Overall this is looking good. Some of these crits are things I need to work on myself. Keep up the good work man. Hopefully I can drop into one of your streams live one time. I've been watching the archives when I can.
