The idea behind this environment is based on the Ancient Greek Necropolis "Myra". We decided to add a Sci-Fi industrial layer on top. This creates a environment where a big corporation would drain something mysterious from the tombs. (Ideally we wanted to animate fluids inside the tubes)...
We were heavily inspired by the old school Sci-Fi ( Bilal, Akira ) for the industrial part.
The scene was set up in Unity because we are more comfortable with it. It's always a challenge to get a very good looking environment (But with some work its possible !). Our finished result is far from perfect. We are quite happy with the final image even though we couldn't spend all the time we wanted working on it.
We went for a portrait composition : The vertical format and the low-angle shot emphasize the height of the structure, and create a contrast between the scale of the environment, and the viewer's perspective.
Anyway, we hope you enjoyed our piece and seeing the process from concept, to blockout, to finished product !
