ehy guys I did a lineup for the other population of my personal project, the midans, I really need advice on the designs, in particular on the different principles of art and composition in general. they needed to be kind of generic ( even the robotic arm is not so rare among the far east tribe as the tail in the archipelago) so that's on purpose but i feel like something is not ok.

I realized that I haven't shown to you guys my sketchbook since the 19th of october so today I'll show all i did since then + today's work. I feel like I lack the fundamentals of design so today i went back to the character design class and I tried experimenting with hero shapes again, i would really need a feedback on those so I'll be grateful if you leave one. I also did an anatomy and gesture study of the leg because the one i drew looked wobbly. I feel like it turned out good since the gesture+ anatomy one is from imagination. the order of the sketchbooks pages is random because when i put them in it mixed them up.

thanks for the support man, it really helps with motivation! today I did some studies of hands, hairstyles and volumes. I also finished the characters portrait assignment in a total of 3 and a half hours, including the lineart from last time

yesterdays and todays work. the painting took about 6 hours and is an illustration of "dulce et decorum est" which is a poem of Wilfred owen. it describes the scene of a gas attack in ww1 where one of the poets allies did not managed to get his gas mask in time and drowned in his blood.

Today I could only draw at school so I did some character designs for a project from the characters and creatures book. Both the characters are part of a sci-fi crew of pirates. The first character Is the crews chef, while the second is a mad monk. I'm looking for tips on any aspect of them and I'm also trying to figure out how to do them faster since each one took around half an hour

today's work, i'm studying expressions and yesterday I did a study on light but i need to do one digitally so that I can get used to brush combos to use for lighting up sketch. about sketches, the 2 heads I did are characters from my project and I spent an hour on each. I'm looking for feedbacks on everything do let me know.

hey guys I did some head muscles, fat pads and skull studies. I still need to improve a lot both in the anatomy, in the rendering and in the process, but i discovered that if I first start with a loose sketch of the face and then add the anatomy I do portraits a lot quicker and better. the african guy in fact took 1 hour to make while the girl took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I'm still open to feedbacks

today's work : i tried using marcs square brush paired with a normal soft brush and I like the result. I also experimented with gradient maps to get quicker doing the faces and I think it worked ( left face is an hour and 15 minutes, right is an hour and a half) but I noticed that i tend to get the nose proportion wrong, so I'll set out an eye for that. I would like to get to a more realistic style, can anyone help me figure out what I should improve?

These look really nice! I love your foreshortened shapes!

with the portraits, they look really nice - esp the coloring.

for the first set in your last post the faces are a bit long and imo if you just transform them/compress them vertically down a bit, it'd look better

not sure how to describe it but it could use a bit more volume. i used free transform here and just by transforming it, it looks more proportionate/more volumetric?:

I tried to render better the volumes by studying how light behaves but i think i need to get a better understanding of the volums themselves. anyways here's today's work
