Hello, Im frank and on my social media i go by (Flu_Sketches)

Insta: https://www.instagram.com/flu_sketches/

I started drawing for fun and posting my work on instagram just as a collection and record of my drawings. ive been drawing for years now and although i like some of my drawings from references, I feel like i lack the fundamentals in art due to the fact i never had a proper education and was self taught. I hope through this forum I can post my progress on Marc's Art school and get feedback from those who are willing to :). Also to make some new art friends and surround my self in an art environment to push me to draw more lol

My goal in taking this art school program is to become a better illustrator and be able to draw any character i wish from imagination

Edit/Update: Currently im working full time as an electrician so what ever free time i have is usually spent drawing and or completing commisions and some contract work i have as n illustrator for start up company (nothing too big yet just some pocket change as i go along). Hoping to one day make art a full time gig or have it be sustainable on its own.

Week 1 Update

I usually draw on procreate but just for this art school program im gonna try and use photoshop and a drawing tablet on my laptop, gonna take me some time to get used to this hand eye coordination :')

Wasn't really sure what i needed to change for the fruits color adjustment since they all looked like the color matched.... just me? O FYI im color blind lmaooo (red and greens)

Welcome! Great job on these assignments! Good luck on your journey!

Hey! Welcome frank! Man you already have some incredible skills! It'll be interesting to see how far you can take this!

I'm curious though, what is your overall goal? (other than being able to draw more from imagination as you mentioned) Are you looking for a specific job with your art skills? is this a hobby for you? I mean, you already have a pretty impressive background, so just curious what you have on your sights.

Week 2 Update
Got a little lazy with this and didnt duplicate as much as the right :') ... but yea here is week 2's assignment

Uhhh im not sure to be honest, If im able to make this into my full time job that would be great, right now im working as an electrician as my day job/ full time job while i have a couple contract works/commissions for art as a side gig, Im pretty satisfied as it is but if I can take it to the next level I think with the skills, comes the leverage I have for going pro/ getting real money and sustaining my self off of it.

was sorta hoping to see how far I can go with art as a side gig till it possibly blows up or I actively go find a job with it by quiting my day job lmao

That's perfectly fine for now, in the long term, one of Marc's video poses the question to set a goal for yourself. It helps keep oneself motivated, and take steps towards reaching that goal.

Going pro and becoming able to sustain yourself from art is a worthy goal of course. A challenging one, as with any entrepenur. Not something I would personally be able to provide much advice, since that's not my personal goal or what I do, but as a fellow entrepenur I can at least say that making money out of anything (skill, service, product, etc), requires a lot of commitment, persistance and understanding of the market.

Bests of luck, one way or another, it will be fun to take on this course, I've no doubt you'll come out much better on the other end!

Welcome aboard Frank. You have a lot of great stuff on your Instagram; I'm also self taught, but I'm not nearly as good as you.

Welcome to the forums!! Those are some really great stuff you have there on your Instagram, already left my follow!
