I went through a process to design a sci fi female pirate captain. These were some initial sketches just exploring ideas.

I explored some basic clothing possibilities and configurations.

Then I picked the ones I liked best and developed them further .

At this stage I chose the ones I liked most and began exploring color variations.

Here’s a turnaround sheet for the final design. Do you guys think this would be sufficient to make a 3D model?

I’m putting this in my portfolio so I wanted to do it up for the rendering stage.

And I did a painting of her fighting too. Had to have an example of her actually using that whip.

The ideal game for this character would be an action RPG with a cool real time fighting system. I hope I get the time to develop some more characters for this world, and some environments and enemy designs too.

This stuff takes a lot of time haha

Just some figure studies. I am trying to capture the gesture more to give my poses and illustrations/concepts more energy. I think it worked for example in the concept of the Pirate captain fighting with her whip.

These are some more figure studies and studies of Marc’s anatomy simplification. I love the way he simplifies the shapes, and I also love his line art, so I want to directly copy his sketches, as well as do my own studies from photos, so that his style will seep into my blood hehehe.

I was experimenting with some brushes and colors. I still don’t feel confident with real life colors in a portrait, but something monochromatic like this is easier: just focusing on the values. It is the great Sky Stone. If you have never listened all the way through the album “Fresh” I recommend you definitely do that before you die.
