Pen Control

Construction: I didn't have much time today so everything is just done super fast.

Cylinders: I actually did cylinders this time lol

Thanks for all the encouragement and likes. Sometimes you need someone there to tell you that you are doing better or even to help you and give you tips on what you are doing wrong or how to do something better.

Week 2 - Day 5
Classwork for the Day

Pen Control: Will it ever get better lol I need to work on circles and ellipse, I'm so terrible at it.

Construction: I felt really good about these today and felt like im understanding proportions much better, just need to work on head size more because doing these I had to shrink the head on a couple of them. Also, instead of drawing a box for the chest, I'm just straight up drawing the rib cage. It is helping me with the angle of the torso more.

Cylinders: I found this cool exercise that you try to draw cylinders in the correct perspective and size as they loop around and move far away. It was frustrating at first but became fun once I started to get the hang of it. Will probably try to do more like this.

Classwork for the Day

Pen Control:

Construction: Just sketched them pretty fast just trying to get my rhythm down with just gesture line construction, then lines, but I lined them very loosely and left all the sketching instead of just showing the final like I did yesterday.

Cylinders: Figured it out. I understand it now. !!

Week 2 - Day 7
Classwork for the Day

One More Day of Week 2, Not sure if I should move on or not, but I think I will. not like I can't go back and continue to study what I'm currently doing now right?

Pen Control: I went super fast with this one today, just to see how well I can just go from dot to dot and line to line and see how straight I can get it. Not too well lol. Just gotta keep at it.

Construction: I didn't do any today, it's Sunday and I'm just taking a bit of a break. I did sketch quite a bit with the Cylinders so that kinda tired me out lol.

Cylinders: This is why I didn't do Construction, I just got into this and just kept going with it, and was pretty tired after lol.

Week 3 - Day 1
Classwork for the Day

I took a couple days break but I really wasn't on a break I was still doing Art.
The classwork for week 3 is
1. Observation - I have been doing this regularly with every single thing I want to draw. I will look at it and see the shapes of the figure or object and then the shapes of the shadows and then start from there.
2. Pen Control - Simple enough and more fun than the lines and Circles from week 1-2.
3. do 1-3 of the Nude Figure Drawing. Well we have established in week 2 that doing those was kinda not worth the time and effort of setting it all up to just trace over when I understand how the Line of action and construction works.
So instead I have just been doing Construction to check my proportions and I will continue to do that.
So for the past 2 days I have started a small project that I've been working on and it is part of ALL 3 exercises So I had to Observe, Construct, and use Pen control. Most of it was construction and a lot of construction fixing and adjusting BUT! I was learning so much while doing this. So much Observation is happening while doing this project I am noticing shadow shapes of even the lightest shade.

So this is what I have been working on.

As far as the hands I don't know what I'm going to do.. I tried Marc's hand Brush on the Left hand and it doesn't look too well at all lol, so I will figure it out eventually during the project. Just more observation to do. I constructed the Right hand myself by using the "Sausage" method and that seemed really east to do.

The right hand looks SOO good!!! if you do the same with the left hand, i'm sure it'll look great!
and the shading is so realistic! that looks amazing!

Really good job on this figure
Shading is looking great and proportions are ok. Probably I would think her right leg would have more gastrocnemius for her overall body type and something about her left forearm is looking odd to my eyes, but really great job!

Didn't have too much time for work, This is what I did so far today. I will try to get my exercises in after dinner. Hard to find time sometimes but I get some art done everyday!

Classwork for the Day

Exercises : I sure do like these better than week 1-2, it's just more variety I think and I'm not constantly doing just one thing over and over.

Construction: This is pretty much #10 of the Exercises part. From Left to Right I did the first two together then ate lunch came back and had a terrible time with #3. I think it was because there was just so much foreshortening with the hand by the face and the knee with the front leg.. it was just taking me forever to finish it.

Exercises: Fun as always

Construction: Having an issue all of the sudden with making the rib cage too small. I think this is because I'm trying to draw the rib cage instead of just a simple ellipse. Maybe I will stop doing this until I get to anatomy, because it's messing up my construction in a load of areas just from that one thing. My Notes are from me just Overlaying the Reference after doing the Construction.

these practices are pretty nice
when i get frustrated, it helps to quickly sketch or draw something i like (for example my fav mc Maxus i find that it brings the fun back into drawing and keeps me motivated)

Construction: Really trying to get the rib cage and hips into 3d space. Noticing how flat a lot of my figures are and I'm really studying this because I think it contributes to a lot of my issues with the Torso proportions.

Gesture: Trying some Force gesture drawing.

I've taken a bit of a break from classwork because I was getting frustrated with some things and have taken @mitsuki-youko 's advice with just doing something I like.

I have been studying David Finch and watching a lot of his videos and I love his work so I have started a small piece in the comic style.
It has really calmed me down and I literally said, "I love this, this is just so cool" to myself and it showed me how fun and enjoyable it can be to create something from nothing. Thanks for the advice @mitsuki-youko It's not finished of course but here is what I have so far.
