So here is what I have so far for the Rocket Girl Pinup. I wanted to have a more down to earth 50's aesthetic so that's what I'm going for. Also I sketched out multiple poses. Hopefully i get the chance to do another one because I kind of like them all. anyways let me know what you think.

So I adjusted the pose based on some feedback. Did the linework, aside from the rocket and Head. Tomorrow I finish and start the rendering. let me know what you think so far.

I was originally going to do another entry for the challenge but i think im going back to landscape stuff. I keep putting it off and i really want to push past my strain with them.

She is looking like "ooops, I just "blasted" someone" Such a fun illustration!
The only thing, for me, would be her knee (leg in front), it is maybe a little bit too slim?

Yeah, I see what you mean. What messed me up there was the Calf muscle, I pictured a flexed muscle from that pose which makes it pop out more - so I intentionally made the knee joint smaller than it should be to get that point across. hopefully that makes sense.

aside from that, somebody else in the FB group pointed out the hand size difference, which I hadn't noticed as well. for that I had the right hand sizes but I hadn't modelled the gun yet. so when i found the shape I wanted for the gun and created the hand around it. I'll have to remember to watch out for those mistakes in the future.

So I jumped back into landscapes & paintings in general. doing some daily studies. Going to continue so that I can get comfortable with the process before I proceed to create my own.

Let me know what you think of the work so far though.

thanks. although i can't take credit for either. they were paintings. I just studied the pieces to help me understand the process. of working without lines. I believe the painting is called "dance of colors on mount harrison"

thanks, i often find myself wondering if it only looks good to me (I've recently realized my glasses are tinted for blue light, so it might have been affecting my color choice).

thank you, very much appreciated. I've seen a faster rate of improvement as I branch out into unknown territory. like just learning how to draw different things I'm unfamiliar with. hopefully it continues this way.

So I started a landscape study based of a picture. trying to understand brushwork, what works best and what i like. I did 2 different attempts and approaches to the same piece (below) let me know what you think. same piece, different day.

I'm done with this painting. but want to continue doing landscape studies to help me understand the aesthetic a bit more.

Ohhhhhh that's a hard one.

Both have aspects that I like a lot.
The first one feels more loose and more "artsy", but without losing the overall understanding of what I'm looking at, which I find quite appealing.

The second one feels more realistic. With harder edges and more textures applied to everything, and the brushstrokes on the grass feel more "violent" (I don't know why 😅 Just the feeling I get from the brush).

So, to (not) answer your question: I like both 🤣

I would like a more concept type of style where the Brushwork is simple like the first but also textured like the second. I think both look overworked to me but since I don't have any experience with this stuff. hopefully i can merge both to get a (much better) cleaner painting.
