I cant come up with a background that properly compliments the portrait so if anyone has any advice at all I would really appreciate it.

looks good ... you´ve allready got warm tones in your character, so you maybe could go with some cooler colours in the background... ocean or a hazy city scape... maybe she´s on a rooftop-party with friends ...
