@mitsuki-youko thank you ^^. I'm having a bit of a problem with getting the whole figure as I'm mostly starting from the action line and then go straight to some limb lines etc. and I'm often almost out of time to make this 2-3 last lines, haha. Bur I hope I'll get better at it. I've seen some artists doing really awesome looking gesture drawings and it'd be nice to match with them. And if not, I hope this'll help me draw my characters faster at least :D.

@funslub1996 Well, to be able to change those 60 second drawing into similar quick drawings with my own characters would be a dream wouldn't it? ^^.
I've seen some people doing those quick practice with some themed characters (although I think there's like 5-10 mins per pose then) and it look really nice :).
I think visual library is important too. I just never really bothered about gesture drawings, because I never thought they could be useful. I guess I'll go from one session every 2-3 days to one longer session per week or even month, just to keep myself on track and get some nice warmup sometimes.
I wonder how those work when one would master the anatomy though...

@catsforsnacks that's how my days look like recently, haha. I'm overwhelming myself with exercises so much that I barely have time to move on or do my own drawing/work. I already decide to slow down a bit and get further with the course as those things should be quit easy for me right now (especially all those pen control practices) and I cannot wait to learn some other, new things :).
But yeah, what I've learned and practice so far really helped me with drawing overall. I've noticed that I'm starting to use a line of action when building a pose or that my pen control is a bit better, so I can draw a little faster

@snakker I've never bothered about gesture drawings before, thinking that such short drawings when you cannot see anything have no point XD. But I had a couple session with those so far and even if sometimes annoying, those simple drawing are helping me with speeding up my own process, so I guess it's a good thing :).
I personally cannot be calm during those, because I feel too much pressure in trying to make a whole pose in those 60 seconds, haha.

I wanted to make another study (from the 5 characters assignment) and this time I've tried to copy one of my all time favorite artist - DeerLordHunter.
This study went great, although I spent a lot of time on this (mostly because of details). But to be able to draw like this in the future would definitely be my dream. And it's not only about the style and details. I want to be able to make such organic, loose poses I totally adore along with designing clothes with ease and present my own OCs in such way <3.

Maybe I'm overreacting here but I think that there's a lot of rules on this small picture - composition-wise, anatomy-wise and such. I didn't even notice that the picture I was studying was a sketch until I start to go into details.
But yeah, I have my goal and want to do whatever it takes to get there

@catsforsnacks thank you so much. I had to add the notes because just a simple drawing seemed not enough of a study and since i'm pretty good at copying what I see, I wanted to see this a bit deeper and maybe have the chance to understand how others create their work ^^.

It's a crazy and busy month for me, and my taking on course slowed drastically, but I'm still trying to keep up just a bit with all of it.
As I'm doing the basic perspective now, I'm also doing an Inktober month in advance, because my family is visiting me in October and I'm sure I won't have time then to do it (and I'm making Inktober since 2019, so I don't want to stop now).

Anyway - as there was an interesting prompt, I decide to treat it as a environmental study. It's nothing fancy, and because it's in traditional way on limited piece of paper, I wasn't keeping that much awareness as I should, but for the first time I actually used some convergence lines and vanishing points to create this, so I think it counts as an exercise ^^.

It's a Bojnice Castle, somewhere in Poland and I think I recreate it pretty well :).

Also, I'm doing a room assignment currently and while it's a lot of fun, I've noticed that after 4 hours of work I'm still not done XDD.
Bur only a little more of details and some shading like Marc did on his demo and I should be done :).

Nicely done!

Your inking is very good, I like how you are varying the lineweight, the use of light lines to suggest detail texture and the crosshatching with another color in the back to make the castle pop

Room assignment done.
I was lazy with references, so I draw it from my imagination, only looking at Marc's finished demo for some shading reference.
Took me about 4 hours, but I'm quite happy with result, even if this ladder was a bit tricky to make in the first place XD.

And I must say - the pen control exercises I was making at the beginning, really helped with making semi-straight lines here.
I also recorded the whole thing and I'll be doing a timelapse from it soon :).

Although I still feel like this is quite poor. I had something completely different in mind at the beginning, wanted to make a room I've once described for one of my OCs, but in the end I didn't know how to make it, so I ended up with this instead. Which I'm still proud of, perspective drawing was never one of my strengths ^^.
But I think I might try to make another one, closer to my old description. At least I could practice it a bit more

My 3rd and 4th character study.
I've tried to use a grid method to make the drawing more accurate to the source. And with the first I had so much problems, because I felt like the squares I made on the grid were squished and nothing wanted to match. I might be partially my fault, because I jumped straight to the details, trying to make the lines as accurate as possible, without paying attention to the building block I should use to create a character.

The second one went a bit better - I made a proper shapes (it's not that visible, cause I went over the lines on the first, red sketch) and wasn't that fixated on making the drawing totally identical. I had to keep in mind that I have somewhat establish style of my own already and the lines, no matter how accurate, have some of my personal touch to them.

Anyway, it was a nice try, second study took me only about an hour, so not as long as I expected. I'm not sure now which of the method I like better - making the study from scratch or depend on the grid and I think for the rest of studies I will mix up those two methods and we'll see :).

Great work on your 1 point! looks like you got a great understanding of Marc's very subtle shading technique he used in the video.

@matthewwemes thank you so much. it wasn't easy as I'm totally not used with perspective drawing so I'm glad you like it. And yeah, I wanted to recreate Marc's shading, because I found it really nice to enchance the lineart a bit. I wasn't exactly sure what he was doing (there wasn't any part of it on the video, but I hope my guesses were correct.

But seriously, yeah, thank you, I'm very proud of my lines too, I hope I'd be able to learn how to do this with coloring and other stuff ^^

5th character study and 3rd working with grid method.
I choose it this time, because it's quicker than drawing from scratch and eyeballing everything and I have very little time lately to do anything

I still have some problems with diving straight into details, when I have a grid before my eyes, so the block building is almost non existent here lol. But with every exercise I'm trying to remember to make it correctly :D.

I also made a time-lapse from this, at approx 3.5x speed :).

Another batch of 1 minute gestures from the past month. I'm extremely busy lately, so only had time for 3 sessions, but I'm slowly getting along with assignments and exercises (my plan is to make everything until the end of October and start with term 2 next month).

Another attempt to environmental study. I think I chose a wrong photo for this one, because this bridge was pain in the ass even if it looked easy at first. I had quite a hard time to establish the horizon and ended up with using a bit of grid to draw it better.
