Thank you guys for the nice comments!
Here's a study where the pose was kinda ok, but I still was struggling on how to draw the folds. But I definitely have a better eye. The hand skills are what's missing. if you know what I mean
This one I did today. I drew the pose pretty decently, and the tension points are pretty easy to see and draw. I still did a few mistakes and drew some details that should not even be there...but I can feel the progress.
I made this one right after and it felt pretty good. I felt confident in drawing the pose, and the folds and points were easier to see than last time (a few months ago). The line art was better too and less chaotic.
I tried to make it a bit more interesting by changing the gesture a bit. I should have drawn the hair going to the right so it feels like there's wind. but at least it looks like there's a bit more movement
....and then I realized that the reference from the one I drew months ago was the same model, but with different clothes lol. anyways, I did this comparison to see my own progress so I don't feel like a failure (it happens to me a lot)
I'm not happy with how I painted the skirt in the new version because it kinda "ruins" the simplyfied folds that I drew. In the last version however, I just painted some lines randomly since I felt frustrated and just wanted to add color. there was no intention and thought behind that.
One more! Rendering this face was HARD. or I maybe I was overthinking it too much because last time I didn't felt like it was THIS hard....Anyways. The progress is very noticeable when it comes to my heads. Dont even ask my what the hell is that lovecraftian hair but it looks cool (in the lineart at least lol)
Thank you guys for reading and motivating me with your comments. I'm in the process of designing my own OC for the first time, but so far I only have the ideas and names but I can't draw shit. Everything is hard and I feel dumb.
till next time
