This post is just a simple one, with gestures. I'm finding myself stepping back and reflecting on how I've been working at this so far, looking to the future. I decided to get out of my comfort zone with overly focusing on the outlines themselves with a session of 10-second gestures. That way, I'm changing things up and developing a way for my eyes to swiftly pick up on overall forms.

That is quite impressive for 10 seconds! Gesture drawing is by far the hardest part of the program for me. Keep it up!

I'm going to stick to this "style" of gestures from now on. I've been moving slowly, and that's okay. There's a lot to learn and improve on.

Alright, some actual work! I decided to try and tilt the horizon line ( it was tough to figure out a perpendicular line to it ), and put the right vanishing point out of the canvas. It was good to try and further challenge myself, and I feel there is still so much more for me to learn. Feel free to add your constructive feedback on this.

And here are more gestures, only they were made with my left hand ( I haven't drawn anything with it since over a year now ). It might just be me, but I'm thinking I may have actually been left-handed this whole time and didn't even know it. Perhaps as I draw more with my left hand, I'll be able to come to a decisive conclusion.

I chose to push the horizon line down below the canvas ( out of the frame ), and here's the result! Perhaps the bottom of the cube is too light.

Here are some more gestures ( left handed ). Again, I quickly sketch the gesture first, and then I add color later on when they are all finished.

Here is my assignment for drawing a room in 1-P perspective. I wanted to keep it simple, and I feel I've gotten the main ideas and visual information across.

World events have made me step back and reassess a lot of things. As for ART School, I an now done with TERM 1 and will move on to TERM 2.

Thank you. Here are gestures from today, 15 seconds each as a warm-up. I use pen because I can see where I mess up clearly and get better much faster than with pencil. I'm continuing to show up every day and keep moving forward. Feedback is much appreciated, I'm here to be the best artist I can be.

I'm blessed with the spirit and mindset to keep going no matter what, but cursed with a mind that overthinks everything. Such a tough thing to overcome and learn from. Anyway, here's the beginning of my assignments for TERM 2. I'm focusing on Anatomy 1 ( with face studies and practices - like the one below! ) and Perspective 2 ( A little of 4D, mostly 3D - I just want to get to a point where I fully understand 3D perspective ).

As for feedback, I'm interested in hearing whether the overall proportions look off or not ( I know it must be a bit hard to do so without seeing the reference images themselves ). With all that said, I'll see you soon!

The more I am practicing drawing the assignments with shorter time periods, the more I am beginning to see overall forms and "patterns" ( breaking things down - like faces, for example - into simple lines and shapes ).

It's like I can now look at some very complex object and simply break it down much more easily ( at this point ). I guess I've grown a lot since I began my ART School journey back in the late summer of 2020. Here are some more faces:

Okay, more faces. I tried blocking in the hair on the first one, and decided to stick with it for the rest of them ( that was done after the initial 30 sec. of sketching the face and hair itself for each of these ).

A simple ( and very quick! ) face session for today. For these, it was 30 sec. for the initial sketch and then I went in and blocked out the hair color ( afterwards ).

This ART School journey is life-long for me. There is no destination to reach, and there is always something to learn ( or re-learn ). No matter how good I manage to become as an artist, I will always be sure to keep learning with a beginner's mind.

This post is a big one for me, because the art I've made here was actually made in Photoshop ( not in Procreate as before ) via a Wacom Tablet. Granted, I've gone back to TERM 1 for a bit to learn Photoshop and how to use it properly, but for now I wanted to do some simple gestures and post an update here:

All of these gestures were 1-Min long. And, that's all I have for now. There is an ocean filled with knowledge for me to lean, and I'll go through it all slowly and surely. See you soon.
