Looking ahead, my life and my approach to this Art School Program will never be the same again I am moving on from a ton of toxicity, drama, and chaos in my life. And I am beginning to realize that there is no "right" or "wrong" way to live life, and to go about my Art School Journey here. It is hard to juggle a lot of tasks on my plate, and time management is key for me.
To give some context, I'll be taking on:
- My MFA Program in San Francisco ( focus on Concept Art )
- My 1:1 Advanced Concept Art Mentorship
- CG Spectrum Community collaboration
- Online Learning ( i.e. Youtube, ArtStation Learning, etc. )
- My concept artist role on two small startup indie teams
- This Art School Program
If that doesn't scream "I'm on the right path and it is scary and amazing at the same time!" I don't know what does haha I have already accomplished my dream by being a concept artist on both of my teams who rely and depend on me to show up and put in the work as a solid team member. Going AAA is just a matter of time, patience, persistence, and resilience. I have already had AAA studios get back to me with rejections, saying they'll keep my work or my CV on file, so I already have their attention. I am here on my true path, I know who I am, I know what I stand for and what I will leave behind, and I am so SO ready to fly with the wings that I have earned. 2024 is going to be an amazing, beautiful, and incredible year
I am going to try a lot of things all the time, I am going to fall flat many times, I am going to learn constantly and be better, and I will be committed to showing up no matter what is going on around me or however I feel because that is what I stand for Instead of focusing on a super strict schedule, I am focusing on developing and maintaining healthy habits ( like daily gesture drawing, for example ). I can take what is given to me and break it all down in such a way as to have daily healthy habits to ensure I always move forward the right way for me.
Every consecutive term has its classes and assignments, and while I will take them on, eventually I will keep all of the common knowledge and create my own assignments. Upon completing a Term, I'll take the time to figure out how I can develop that personally-tailored practice. This way I can tailor everything to a way and method that works for me, and I will be able to maintain all of my knowledge in a positive, stable, proper form
I know it is so tempting to rush things and go all-out, but for me, the fundamentals will always be super important to be kept in check Without them, I cannot have a solid foundation for any future character design, creature design, or whatever else I'll be creating as a concept artist in this industry. I am on my own timeline, my previous self yesterday is my one and only competition, and there is absolutely no rush anymore as I am not desperately chasing anything.
So that leaves me with a "Habit-Based schedule" moving forward:
- Gesture Drawing ( DAILY )
- Assignments ( SUNDAYS )
- Portfolio Work ( Upon Completion )
- Art Studies ( Returning This Week, SUNDAYS )
It is time for me to simplify my life and focus on good healthy habits to drive me forward. I will be in a constant state of change, growth, and transformation. And it all begins today, with these gestures from my absolute OBSESSION with Halo haha
Happy holidays to you guys! I'll be seeing you soon
