Hi there, pretty new to the forum, I'm a returning artist after about 10 years hiatus getting back into the swing of things, I really look forward to getting to know some new artists, post some work and give and receive feedback

I created this today when I discovered the art challenges on here, I didn't realize the latest one for final fantasy had finished already so as I came to upload my entry I was a little surprised

10 years is a long break for sure! Glad you're back on the saddle.

Your piece reminds me of FFVII especially!

Welcome back in the art world! Hope you don't mind critique:
I like your use of colors and light, but I don't see too well what's going on in this piece. I really had to study it before seeing what's going on. I think it has to do with composition, it kind of cuts off the airship and everything tightly fits in the image. Also, there are many dark parts where you drown color and definition.

new picture I'm working on, I plan to go into a lot more detail on it but for now this is today's progress. Before I would probably call it finished but I know I need to push more. any suggestions with it feel free to fire them my way. cheers

good stuff. But I believe you need to define better the depth of field. The background has almost the same intensity as the foreground, but I liked it overall...you can feel the kind of place they are. Crime, lust, drinking, problems been solved with killing hehehehe Keep it up bro!

cheers dude glad you're into it ha, thanks for the suggestion, it's definitely a problem I have getting things with lights to be in the background, you got any pointers? I need to get it all right before going to far

make the neon lights on the back smaller, maybe not so intense as the ones on the front ground. Also unfocus the stars on the back just a liiittle bit, they kinda look like a roof with projection on it. And about going too far... I once heard from an artist ''Some times is better to do 10 one hour painting than a 1 painting that took 10 hours''. Dont get too attached on your first tries as you are leaving that hiatus behind.. =D

cant be arsed to finish study from quickpose but i went in on it

tried something new with this, i mainly just used the lasso and an airbrush

decided to make it a regular exercise to do environment studies, landscapes etc is are not my strong point so it's about time I sorted it out, I could've used a specific mountain or cloud brush for these ones but the idea for me is to learn to paint them, so I just used one brush and the smudge tool and limited myself to 30 mins each

actually, the 3rd one is just the sandstorm but with a hue and saturation change, while messing around it happened and i thought it made it look like some ice cave or something
