I wanted to practice drawing 3d forms and the figure at the same time, so I modified the assignment a bit to tackle both of these challenges. I was also trying to practice draw through on the forms. It did get a bit confusing in some areas though so I opted to leave the draw through out in some locations.
I can see why Ron Lemen leaves out the ball joints in his mannequin / armature. I found them awkward to place, so I think I will continue with the methods I learned in his analytical figure drawing class for continuing to learn anatomy later.
For now, this was a good exercise for practicing 3D volumes and I'm happy with how these box mannequins turned out and that I pushed myself to try more.
I think I will practice Marc's method as well, but I feel like I get more out of the course and exercises when I combine them with past learnings and other resources and reference materials I have available.
Drawing the silly faces on them also made this more fun.
