Hi, I'm Kalin. I'm excited to get started on this journey to improve my art. I've had the courses for a while now and am finally making the time to sit down and dedicate some time to learning. These forums seem like a great way to keep track of progress. I've done some other online courses over the years but have not yet been able to keep up a consistent drawing practice for myself. I'm hoping to change that and am looking forward to improving with the rest of you!

All critiques are welcome and appreciated on anything that I post.

Finished up the photoshop assignments. I'm more interested in learning more about drawing than doing photoshop assignments like these but I still learned a bit about tools I had not used before.
I looked up how to apply chromatic aberration around the alien's head and that was fun.

I studied the 8 head proportional system from Classic Human Anatomy by Valerie L. Winslow & recreated the diagram from the book. There is also a 7.5 head proportional system and a proportional system of divisions which I will reference from this same book at a later time if I need to. Yay for the photoshop symmetry tool <3

1 Point perspective boxes. I'm not the best with perspective still, but I'm hoping to improve. I don't think I plotted the K correctly. I tried to find the back panels in most of the boxes but may have missed a few since the grid lines were getting kinda heavy. I'll try some free hand boxes next I think.

More gestures from today. I really don't like doing anything on a rushed time limit so gesture drawing kinda drives me nuts.

I recreated a simple box structure mannequin within the 8 head high proportional grid and overlayed the more detailed anatomy on top of it. Drawing the simple structure will be easier to remember than the detailed drawing. This approach also makes more sense to me with the other part of the lesson & drawing the cylindrical forms on top of the figures.

Things are getting busy. I moved on the weekend and am going to be going on vacation for a week soon. I’ll try to get something posted before I leave, but I really hope I don’t drop off with the training. I felt like I was just building up some momentum with practice too, so I hope I don’t lose that.

Images for this one were a bit low res but I'd like to live in a cute little cottage near the mountains. It's fall now and I love the bright fall colours of the leaves before they drop.
