I forgot to mention, that it's probably worth noting the Erector Spinae is technicaly not really exposed, it's a "deep muscle". It seems to be covered under all the muscles, and the white part we usually associate to the spinae is technically called the Thoracolumbar fascia, which merges into the latissiums.

While drawing the distiction is usually not improtant since we just care for the outline and the bumps it causes, but figured it was worth pointing out. It also explains how in those examples the bulges of the deep muscles are easily confused with the superficial muscles.

20 Hands from reference

Drawing muscles on skeleton - I tried to do this from memory as best as I could. The torso was usually fine, but I had to check my notes often when drawing the arms. Later when I was comparing this exercise with the photo studies I realized just how much the muscles can grow in size.

Color and light theory 4 - I took some parts from Frieren´s first OP and looked at the colors. Noticed that some scenes use half the color wheel.

10 Heads drawn on upper body studies - Some silly faces. Again, I played with a few different brushes. But I always end up liking to work with the default g-pen the most

Great exercices! It's always fun to look at your work, it's very well done and neat!

Hands look great! Nothing really to add there. The red contrast is a nice touch to differentiate the hands from the objects.

On the skeletones there was one I knew I recoginzed xD

I think we did it very similar with only slight differences here and there (this was before I fixed the obliques though), I think it's fun to compare notes. Overall I think we got the right idea.

Ooo Nice! Your version is very well done. Mine is kinda malnourished With this one the scapula position kinda threw me off at first.

Oooh I think you're right, I think I didn't position the teres minor and teres major correctly, I think they should indeed go over the scapula, I think yours is correct there, if not necessarily covering the scapula completly, it should at least be at that height.

Which means my deltoids should also go higher, and with all that, the lats will probably end up a bit higher and larger as well.

Too late to correct this one, but I'll keep it in mind moving forward!

Also, I am not sure, but the scapula is probably tilted a bit. It kind of feels too small. I remember when I was drawing the muscles there, things felt a bit cramped.

Studies so far - Anatomy 3 lower. After seeing how the leg muscles are sandwiched on each other, I am even more grateful for the way Marc simplified in the video.

All these studies look amazing! I don't really have anything to add or note, I can't really see any fault with them.

At this point you flew by and above the point I currently am in term 4 . Looking forward to seeing more works! Looking at this work really helps review and get some pointers.

I must say, I am excited to do the enviro studies. But as always, the hardest part is to pick the 3 pieces. There are too many amazing artists that I really like. An impossible task. __φ(．．; )

Great studies as usual! I see no fault at a glance The girl's bum is a good reminder that the bum is really a muscle (with fat) that extends down. I think many artists (myself included), make the mistake of stopping the bum at the crotch and not adding the gluteus medius, but that right there shows really well how it's supposed to be and look.

Environment study 1/3
I picked this piece to practice drawing buildings. I did not draw everything 100%, but I still learned a lot.

-The original has a lot of clean, sharp shapes. I used polyline selection tool and some square brushes to do something similar + made a triangle spray for the road.
-I set up a perspective ruler, it was quite convenient.
-I regret not managing my layers properly - it led to some troubles later when I needed to change color of certain parts.
-In the beginning, I tried to pick my own colors to see if I can match the original. Later, I started color picking from the original because I got confused by some of the subtle value changes.
-I dreaded drawing windows with the fancy frames, but it turned out fine. Only had to draw one frame a then copied it.

Another great study! Out of curiosiy, how long did it take? Seems like skipping the lineart phase saves a lot of time when working with environments.

Hmm, I am not sure about the exact time. I spend the weekend on it and didn't really keep track of time. But yeah, it is faster. I can compare it with older perspective assignments where I did lineart only. I spend more than two days on those.

Thanks! I think it matches up with other exercices from other people and my own. I'm always curious if I'm taking "too long" in a piece or if it's comparable to what other people do. Granted I think the right approach is to simply work until you are satisfied regardless of the time (unless there's a specific deadline of course, that's a whole different ballgame).

Seems like when we work on lineart, we end up being more detailed, taking more time, but by using a "painting" approach, even if you packed in a lot of detail here, it seems to be faster, since you focus more on composition and form.

I have the same thoughts as well sometimes. Shouldn't this be faster? How do others do it? But I try to not beat myself up when I take "too long". Because there are so many things that affect speed! Experience, skill, planning, references, medium, mental and physical wellbeing... Sometimes the ideas need time to bloom.
When I first started drawing digitally, This dammed spatula took me half a day. I was really struggling

Environment study 2/3
I picked this because I wanted to try drawing the robotic arms.

The decorations hanging there caught my eye because at first glance I thought it was some kind of spiky form. But no. Just cubes.
The perspective in this is...interesting. It took me a while to position the glowing things in the middle.
I don't know how the artist did the city BG but frying a photo with posterization and slapping gradient on it did the trick.
Even if the room feels like a cold lab, there is a lot of color everywhere.
I started the first study in a file with some older studies, and then I wasn't really sure how long it took. This time I made a new CSP file. The timer says 18 hours 12 min total.

Picked this one because I wanted to do one more room.

It is very easy to mess up the size of objects with this perspective.
The chairs were a headache to properly construct. In the end, I eyeballed them.
Changing the color of the BG from white to other makes the whole process less stressful.
The first stage was tedious, but I guess I am kind of getting used to it. My attention span is getting longer Also took less and shorter breaks.

I did the next study because I liked the field and wanted to draw it.

I like the colors a lot. Trying to match them by eye was a challenge.
Got a chance to play around with textured brushes. I'd like to use them more often.
