Quick sketch after a quick holiday break from drawing

A quick practice on rawing an existing character this one's from Tim McBurnie (check out his youtube its full of great advice you don't often hear on bigger youtube channels !! )

Also someone asked a question to me so I sent him notes and why not post it here if it can help some beginners who are struggling, not saying im a master but maybe you can get a little something out of it, and even if someone has better skils you can still correct me or critique it i'm open to it !

Great stuff! Are you drawing your scenes from imagination? Or combining a bunch of different references to create something new?

Im trying to draw as much from imagination as possible especially for the human figure so i simplify it in simple forms i can manipulate in every angle, i think drawing from imagination helped me a lot to understand simple volumes more and put these in perspective, just a box a cylinder a sphere etc, if you can draw these in any perspective in any angle you can basically draw anything !
And then when u master this when you watch a reference you dont just see the lines and details anymore but your brain is seeing these shapes and you can decompose anything easily into simple shapes.

So after that you UNDERSTAND the reference and you don't just copy it, so you can draw your reference in other angles etc !

That's the approach i take to learn how to draw (im still learning a lot but i feel like i'm the right track).

Little painting practice, tried to paint directly with no sketching, and focus on having good values

Face is kinda weird but i didnt have the courage to repaint over it to correct it, just rather stop there and start something new
Also Liquify tool is kinda hard to use and it made it look weird af when i tried to correct the big nose

Hi everyone, here's a drawing of Ryu from the Breath of Fire series !

Drawing non stop and working on fundamentals all the time started to feel like a chore and I need to find things that I actually like to draw and have fun

So here's me exploring some styles and all that jazz, gotta admit it's much more enjoyable than drawing mannequins, boxes and loomis heads all day !

I quite like the capcom style, but then again there's so many different styles that I love, it's hard to find your thing !
