Nude Figure Drawing Assignments! I get confused on when I should use the rectangles vs the circles for the torso and pelvis. And when I'm gesture drawing, am I supposed to be using the circle/rectangles? Or just go for the line, movement, and shape only?

A 45 minute study! I had planned for it to be an hour long study, but I found myself not knowing what to do after 45 minutes had passed lol. I usually start with grayscale, but today I jumped straight into color. It was definitely challenging. I haven't went right into color in years.

Because there are pages full of sketches and several exercises and now even an environment study on top xD I think you could call this ambitious 😁🔥

Wow this looks great 🤩 I like the contrast between the clean shapes of the houses and the more abstract painting style of the cars and lights on the streets. You really managed to capture the color and light situation of the original piece ^.^

The only thing that bothers me, is the perspective of the crosswalk xD The angle in the original is a bit flatter 🙈

Besides that a great piece 😄👍

Thank you!!! Yeah I wasn't sure about how to paint in the crosswalk so I just kinda messily did it LOL. I actually didn't realize how flat it was supposed to be until after I finished!

Finished! I wanted to color it after painting in grayscale using gradient maps and layer modes, but every time I tried, it just didn't look right... So I'm leaving it as is and moving on!

This is a lovely piece! I had a piece that was this dark that I attempted to use gradient maps on and it was really difficult. In general I have had the best success when my grayscale is on the lighter version for gradient maps. Hope that helps! Really love this scene, reminds me of seasons of the witch magic card which I love.

Omg my reply is so late, but thank you!!! Yeah, maybe I should have adjusted the piece to be lighter before trying a gradient map! Is seasons of the witch a card game? I've never heard of it!
