That sketchy style of linework is so nice to look at !! - the hand studies are super good too, with the nails remember most of the time people nails will go over the tips of their fingers unless the person bites their nails. (if that makes sense)

Here is some of my work for the week, was focusing on material study! I also include some work from draw a box as there is a lot of cross over!

This is a hearthstone card i did a study of but changed the light source.

And another hearthstone material study with light direction change.

I like the material studies. Especially the card with the fur. How did you work on those?

@greg For these I seperated each element into its own layer group and then focused on painting the volumes based on the lightsource, then I painted in highlights and ambient occlusion and any textures, not sure if that is helpful. It was a new process for me to paint many things at once. But mostly just isolating each element then painting it.

Hey Lock i hope you are doing well, I would like to say the studies are looking clean and the way you study is effective. I'd like to give critique on the last piece here. Your characters head is a bit to slanted (the jaw area) and it makes the face uneven, the other thing is the characters left arm our right has a muscle that seems out of place. The braceo muscle should be going behind the bicep, if i am correct it is going in front of it. That is all i hope you have a great day

Yo that's really cool stuff you are studying! All your studies are really great!

I do note something... now - I've not tried any of this myself and am a novice at styles so I could be totally wrong about this but I notice in the original the shape language is curvy-meaty-cute contrasting with sharp pointy edges all over the place + white scleras with a hint of eyelids above and below for extra cuteness there - the eye looks like a little marble. In your application I feel you applied your own style to the same character with much more rounded edges, a different shape language for the face and body type. In stead, I think if you were to draw another character, but keep the same type of eyes as the original, and same shape language that would be more of an application of the style you learned when copying

These are really good studies. It's really cute. You may have to work on the arms and face though. The left forearm is a little too big.
