I like to make stuff in many mediums and do it in most of my spare time, which is probably unlike most professional artists, to be honest
So it's kind of hard for me to get rusty on much because I'm obsessive about art.
That makes sense for a general game artist position for a smaller studio, but not likely for a AAA concept art or illustration one. Knowing other software beyond 2d is always a bonus, though, esp if you want to learn more of the ins and outs of game dev. Def think a lot of big studios will shrink or close (as they have the past few years) and more indie studios will pop up, looking for high-skilled generalists.
