Hi Malcom, I really like your character designs! For the latest I think I like the one with pink gauntlets the most, just a little more than the original one.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. The one problem I think I had with the pink one was that it pulled away from the focal point which was the face. If the face was the first thing you noticed then I did my job but if not, then I need to keep working on it.

I see what you're getting at. I think in all versions the main focal point is the face, and they all work well. The red and pink gauntlets just in my opinion add something to the overall design. In the "green gauntlets"-version there probably is just a little less that draws my attention what makes it less appealing to me. Might be personal taste tho.. ^^

Hi , I really like your design it's so cute and fresh ! I love the pink gauntlets they stand out more than the green ones and clash less with the color harmony than the red ones in my opinion. I also like that the are connected to the color of the hair it creates a really good consistency ! It's not dragging the attention away from the face ( which is very cute ) but works well as a second focal point !

dude its getting there keep it up, its always good to show your iterations and process give people both fans and companies who hire an idea of how u solve problems, and also u can get feedback from other people, i think the reason that the original and the pink gauntlet works more is because its emphasising them, the are sticking out more which shows the characters power off, a great way that I like to show when im choosing different colors is by having the colors of the gauntlet on one layer, then all u have to do to make quick iterantions is duplicate the layer and use the hue/saturation feature and just play with the slider u can get so many different combinations and might find something even more interesting. ( I have a feeling you already know this though but just in case imma tell XD)

Thanks a lot. Using hue/saturation was how I got to the pink version. Other colors didn't work unless I changed the colors of everything to get a good balance.

Either way I think I'm more or less done with this piece.

looks great, the other thing that strikes out to me is the material, im not sure what the shoulder pads are made out of its on the boarder of being metallic if so the increase in contrast would be a great addition, but overall design is pretty cool and the consideration for a background is great to see XD keep it up :).

on a different note where do students of the artschool submit their work for critique? I did an illustration a while ago and would love to get some feedback

You have to be apart of the facebook group for artschool. From there Marc will make a post where you can post your work. As far as the material for the shoulders go, its suppose to be similar to that of a bugs.

Its suppose to be similar to the wings of this ladybug. So I guess something like a silicon surface where the highlights are soft but this bright. I just spiced it up a bit.

Oh i already joined there, so when does Marc Usually post? any specific day? and what are the criteria for the critique, since what im asking to get critiqued is a full illustration that i have used multiple of the classes to make.

Also thats really interesting the bugs shell still has that metallic shine to it so I was almost positive that it was metal XD, I gotta bursh up on more material rendering

He usually post around midnight pst on a saturday, so if your east coast; 3 am in the mourning. Start time is around 2 pst.

I have to do the same with materials. I'm really bad at them.

As far as the quarantine, I'm doing fine. Hopefully you and you family are doing good as well. Staying healthy. Just taking things a day at a time into the craziness dies down.

Pretty cool character! I like the way you manage to make the piece colorful (or at least look like it is) without it hurting the eye, haha. It just gives off a bright and happy mood and I like it. I can't do something like that XD

Appreciate it. Glad that you got the vibe I was going for. Trust me when I say it was hard to do this. I'm personally still trying to get better at showcasing emotion and combining colors to help the mood. Besides this new expressive style I want to go for, color is a big thing I want to improve at the most. It's easily the thing that scares me the most in art.
