I kinda started the tower project because I was worried I'd get tired of exercises, but then I started getting overwhelmed with all the ideas I was having for it, so I went back to exercises, lol. (I will probably post some variations of it once I have a few worked out, but I don't want to post like 30 half baked ones)

Anyway, here are the exercises:

Yo, I really like that 10 min study, I feel you definitely got her likeness in the face and I like how you used some overlap in the silhouette of the arm to denote the biceps brachii and the skin folds at her back. Also the proportions look good

I know this was just a 10min sketch, and presentation at this point might not matter when you are just suggesting the shading, but it does look a little messy when the lines you use to describe it are chaotic. In stead, try using lines that go parallel to each other (crosshatching), these can be straight in any direction within the boundaries of a shape to just to give an idea of a shadow or they can be curved and follow contour lines suggesting the volumes and shading of an object. Make sure to lift the pencil/stylus/pen off the canvas for each mark made and it will look much cleaner

I disappeared again for a bit but I've still been working, so I have a bit of a sketch dump for this post...

And some initial Term 2 stuff:

I think I need a lot more practice with pen pressure, these were harder than I thought. Starting low pressure then increasing it was OK, but I had trouble going from high pressure back to low pressure.

I'm still not 100% happy with these guys, I'll probably work on them more. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated!

Yo great work on these! Your figure studies came out very niceky and the spider looks really cute. You’ve definitely also cleaned up the hatching on the figures 😃 I also notes the heads are both a tad too wide, but you are nailing the expression

yeah the angles and thicknesses of different parts of the figure are for sure something I'll have to pay closet attention to, I'm really looking forward to starting to get further into anatomy for Term 2.

Very good studies!, Shading is fairly hard initially, but once you get that pen dexterity leveled up then you'll make progress fast!. And those little spidies are adorable!.

I did one more version of the spider, plus my game box:

I wasn't feeling super inspired with this one heh. I might work on it more if I have more ideas but this is it for now.

Here is my custom brush. this one was fun but I got a bit overwhelmed by the brush settings. is there a setting that locks in spacing? so it doesn't change when the brush moves vertically, so the horizontal parts never overlap? Maybe I just have to be a bit careful when drawing a fence using a brush, I mean going up a slope this steep is not a normal thing for a fence to do lol

Started with the Anatomy 1 exercises:

Connecting volumes is surprisingly hard! I was trying to figure out the connection of the two cylinders and ended cheating a little bit with a 3D model.

I'll start with the compete head volume next, it says on the assignment sheet to do that until it's easy, but drawing circles still is not easy, all the head spheres on here needed a lot of correcting!

I did some more work on my tower, I want to use it in my perspective assignments:

I did some more basic head constructions. I think I am starting to get the hang of this. although I still had issues, especially with looking up and down, the ones on the upper right ended up pretty wonky, the ones at the lower left are a bit better I think, but I think I will need to do reference studies to really get these right

Nice studies! Yeah i think it was helpful to not only practice these head circles and lines by themselves but to apply them to practice studies like you’re doing, Keep it up and I’m sure you’re going to look back and see how it has helped!

Thanks @koalatycoffee and yes I think I am already seeing it, my studies are going a lot faster and needing much less adjusting after the initial construction now that I've practiced it, needing to use liquify and selections a bunch still feels a bit like I'm cheating after coming from traditional media lol

Here is my latest one, I can't remember if expressions are even part of the term 2 curriculum, but I do like how this one turned out. I think I will need to re-watch at least parts if the lecture before I attempt to replicate Marc's head drawing, it's already been a while since I watched it. I am also still a bit scared of painting for some reason
