Some life drawing from earlier in the week. Trying to get a better at capturing the roundness of the figure so I drew more lines wrapping around the figure than I normally would have

I dont draw a lot of cars so I thought I'd draw a few and I thought I'd have some fun with it and kind of cartoonify them.

Some lighting studies using some heads and figures broken into some simplified planes.

@jc.aedo.o Thanks! For the light studies, I found some pictures of the planes of the head and the body then used some photo reference for the poses.

Life drawing this morning. Working on getting the form to look rounded and three dimensional.

I was working on my comic and thought that my characters needed some redesigning. I also wanted to work on my expressions and to simplify my style while drawing comics.

Couple life drawings from sunday.

Some costume designs for my secondary character. She's a high born cleric character to contrast my other character. Her name is Artemisia because that sounds fancy and because it can be shortened to Artie, which she hates.

Testing out how Simone will look and how I'll draw her consistently. My biggest struggle was with her hair, that super curly hair looks cool but a lot of the rules that I've learned about hair ( treating it like cloth or ribbons) don't work, so it took some digging to find some tutorials about drawing out that kind of hair.

A sci fi version of Thor I'm doing just for fun.

Life drawing yesterday

The main villain for my comic, she's the head of an evil theocracy that's trying to invade the rest of the world. She's not going to have any kind of redeeming features and is just compleatly evil. Some of the people that work for her will have a change of heart and get some redemption, but she will not. Makes her fun to write.

The first few designs felt really off from how I wanted the character to look. Two and three looked okay if I wanted an evil aristocrat look but I wanted something a bit more creepy. Covering her face felt right for the character so I did some more designs with that in mind and went with the final one, it has a religious feel to it, kind of creepy, and it wouldn't take a ton of time to draw which is important in a comic.

After I decided to cover her face I thought that she could have something weird going on under there, like her connection to the evil eldritch horrors that she gets her power from has corrupted her in some way. Heres a few sketches of that feedback on these would be greatly appreciated, I think the bottom two are my favorite but would like some other opinions.

I love that villain design. It's a really cool character. For the face, I like the first and last one the best. Good job!

@cedricgo Thanks! It seems like everyone liked that last one, almost unanimously. I'm glad they did because that was my favorite

My usual Sunday life drawing

Sketches of some of the supporting characters. The story is set during a war in a fantasy world roughly analogous to the 1910s and 1920s and these three characters are part of the military for the good guys.

Still working out how I want the final book to look. I've decided to do it in greyscale so I can have some really cool compositions that I just couldn't get with linework alone. It'll also give me a chance to work on improving my lighting skill while not having to worry about color. I did a test using my villian character. I gave her magic this gloopy slimey look to it, I like the way it came out even if I think it needs some more tweeking to be exactly what I want.

Yesterdays life drawing

Been doing a lot of muscle and anatomy studies over the last month or so. I've been going through Michael Hamptons Figure Drawing Design and Invention book as well as the Proko Youtube channel. The book provides a great simplification of the muscles and anatomy and the videos go into a lot of the detail of how the muscles move. They work really well together and I've noticed an improvement in my anatomy over the last month. Here are some of the studies that I've done.

@castonia They're live gesture drawings, there's an open life drawing class at a nearby college that I go to most Sundays.

Had a busy week and wasn't able to make it to my usual life drawing session but I was able to do some portraits of some of the supporting characters. A lot of the comics I read as a kid had the problem of all the characters looking alike and I'm trying to avoid that.

Life drawing yesterday

I'm working on a way to get the panels to look the way I want without spending a bunch of time on them. I have a tendency to get perfectionist so I have to make a conscious effort to stop working on something. Perfect is the enemy of the good is something that is on a sticky note on my computer.

This is the level of detail i want on most of the panels

This isnt finished yet but its closer to the level of detail and lighting that I want for a cover or splash page.

Been a little while since I posted, life gets crazy sometimes and whoosh a month goes by.
I was given the word egg as a random prompt and came up with this. My thinking was what it The Fly was scary in a more Aliens way rather than in a Chronenberg type way.

A commission for a friend. Two of her friends dressed up as Ryu and Chun-li last Halloween and she wanted me to draw them. Got a bit of clean up to do but I'm happy with it and so is she.
