That's a great approach: studying your favorite artists and blocking out composition and perspective. Keep posting your improvement!

Quick update on the Guweiz study. Unfortunately I lost the progress of one session, because I mistakenly didnt save the file...
There's a lot of time spent on shading and rendering. I do learn a lot, but I think in the future I'll have to pick one thing to focus on in my studies (eg. perspective, composition, anatomy, etc.). Otherwise I'll "waste" too much time on the other stuff I dont even want to work on...

What do you think? Maybe you could help me out by sharing the way you do master studies!

You're doing a nice job picking up the values and handling the perspective.
I've never done a full study of a scene before, just thumbnails and portrait studies. I can imagine how tedious it is, but I think you're doing great so far!

Alright, I cant stand practising perspective anymore. Time for something else:
Figure drawing.
Started with one of the exercises marc gives on the assignement sheets.
I think I captured the pose quite okay, but its not really a visually pleasing study...
I'll take some time focusing on constructing the human figure out of basic 3D forms.
I've also once again picked up a book that I read some years ago. It's called "the first 20 hours" (Josh Kaufman) and its about learning sth within 20 hours of dedicated practise. Lets see if I can apply the tips of this book to my art studies.

Today I tried to give the torso more 3D form. Pew there's a lot to improve upon. So I'll focus the correct construction and perspective of the torso for now. Do you guys have any helpful resources on that topic that I could use?

Yesterday and today I‘ve been working on The Bean and Robo Bean (Proko.com). The goal is to show the position of the torso with simple forms. Total practise time was about 6 hours in two days. I am pretty happy with the progress I‘ve made. Down below you can see the last exercise I did: constructing the bean first and then laying the robo bean on top.

Did all the exercises with pencil and paper. I feel like I have more control than with my drawing tablet

Another practise session today afternoon!
Damn time flies by when doing these (took me about 3 hours to complete).
These small wins I get every day through that practise really motivate me to push myself! Its really rewarding, havent had such good sessions in quite a while!

Another short update on my torso practise.
Still struggling with the proportions of rib cage vs pelvis. But I am pretty content about how far I‘ve come with about 18hours of only practising these....😁😁

Quick update: finished my Robobean practise and been working on gesture drawing for the past three days...
I‘ve caught myself drawing the outlines instead of the motion of the figure quite often.

Here is a recent attempt...
I was wondering how you guys practise gesture drawing and if you have any advice on how to really do a simplistic sketch that captures the movement of the figure instead of copying outlines?

Another update on my gesture practise:
I tried to focus on the feeling the gesture is trying to convey. Sorry for the bad quality, my strokes were very fine...
I think they turned out pretty well, I am still working on longer poses (2-10mins), because they tend to get worse the longer I work on them, partly because I start copying outlines, partly because I cant seem to portray 3D forms with only a few lines!
If you have any advice, I‘d like to know how you capture longer poses (lets say around 2mins) without starting to copy just the outlines!

Yea i think you just need to put some more pressure on your pencil lol cant see much but the drawings I can see are looking very nice
