I already know how to draw and practice everyday, however I am curious as what methods other people used in order to improve their art. Things like techniques, books, tutorials, etc. I am also curious as to what inspires people to walk down the path of an artist. As for me, I am a big nerd, I love games, movies, etc, and I really want to help create content through art.

There was a blog post about some good books to get as an artist.

There is another book I liked called "Digital Painting Techniques" that I think is worth a buy.

As for why I chose art; well, that is an interesting story seeing how I'd be better characterized as a programmer right now. I started going to school for computer science but after awhile found it very boring and easy (I've been programming for as long as I could read); I couldn't see myself doing it for a living for the next 40+ years.

I chose art initially because it was very challenging for me. I could barely draw a stick figure. After I got better at it though, I found that I really enjoyed it as it was, and could see myself continue to do it for the next hundred years if I could.

As for knowing techniques, I watch a lot of speedpaints on YouTube. At least, a lot of the good ones (it's hard to find good ones since people post the most basic MS-Paint stuff a lot).

By observing speedpaint videos. If you can't catch up in first try, then keep repeating it over & over again until you know how they did it. In my opinion, this worked better than tutorials.

Hmmmm... what inspired me to be an artist... I kinda just keep my childhood passion keep going.. art had always been part of me since little.. sorry I can't think of a direct answer for this one
