I personally stopped using the remote after a while.
1. Because of a need for more actions
2. The magnet in the remote stopped sticking on cintiq.
3. Keyboard got really comfortable over time.
As long as you have a way to increase and decrease brush size as well as an ctrl+z button you'll have a good starting point. As you paint and sculpt more, you'll notice other things you like doing in your personal process. I remember when I started I keep things in there default options. As I kept painting and watching other peoples process, I added some things such as flip canvas and shortcuts to options like control balance to try making the painting process more seamless.
Hope that somewhat helps. I know I didn't show my control setup, but, hopefully this gives an different insight on how to make your own personalized setup.
I'm curious as to what others might have so I look forward to seeing them as well.
