this one is cheshire and he is supposed to be a cute boi... i wonder if my perfectionism is blocking me.. cus i do feel a personal... "pressure?" if you will, to make him look perfect and cute... but he doesnt look cute no matter how i draw him today n that rly bothers me XD tried to do the face multiple times and i think i finally have a sketch that kinda works...

If you have trouble digitally, you should try it traditionally. Or even try a different hair or face.

the hair looks super cool! - drawing a little is better than nothing at least it is some progress and saves you a bit of time when you start again

Good to see you've been staying busy on all your projects Mitsuki! I didn't have time to read through everything that you'd been up to but ally your art is looking good, love the 3d models makes me want some donuts haha.

Life has been busy prepping for a move abroad (with my mom to be closer to family) (will reveal more after it is all said and done tho but yea havent had much time for art but semi-temp-settled before the actual move abroad so got a bit of time to draw now..)

even if 15 minutes doesn't give you a finished drawing, it will give you a better starting point than a blank canvas. So keep all the sketches and use them as springboards for next time. I find it to be helpful when time is short. But yes, if you aren't liking the pose, try a new one too.

yea, that is a great idea I'mma outright just draw Cheshire again without the orig sketch.

Personally, if I feel something isn't working, I'll try to look for something or someone who has done something that I think worked. Maybe a reference, a character, or an art piece, and just try to imitate it. By imitating it, I usually end up with something I like a bit more

I agree with @daceronine I have a piece that I was stuck on too which I eventually I did end up just moving on but its good to get different perspectives and critiques to help push yourself and see it from another lenses and learn from that experience

Sooooo today after taking a chiller approach to my proj - with the focus being on fun, more than anything else (fun over perfectionism) - I managed to make a really interesting looking bowl for the dessert Alis n Cheshire are getting!

Before, it was kinda generic and boring.....

But now it's fancy XD

It's supposed to be futuristic.. but it turned into more alien-esque which is kinda cool too...

I rly like the alien-like tentacles!

Havent quite decided on the materials yet tho but i think it'll be glass on top where the bowl is, mixed with a bit of metal or.... something like wood? for that fancy lux aesthetic where the tentacles are. havent decided yet... might also do a 3d model of it just for fun xD

Ended up taking an hour and a half to model it XD its not a very good model but it resembles what i drew XD

Messed up by joining all the tentacles togetther after i duplicated em.. i had one tentacle too close to another and shoulda positioned properly before joining but noticed too late rip lol oh wells XD

I have the reverse. I do some traditional more than digital.

The Sundae looks pretty good. I like the 3D rendering of the model so far. I'm thinking of that bowl walking on its tentacled feet toward its customers for them to eat.

lil backstory for Cheshire:

He was originally from the Cheshire Lands in Zionix but he and his cousin and friend strayed from their parents on a trip to Mainland Zionix and Cheshire, unfortunately got kidnapped by some black market dealers who sold him to a cruel circus owner (Sid) in Atlantis - a whole other world in another dimension from his home.

Poor boi suffered a lot under Sid until one day, Alis and her dad (literally one of the the most powerful men in the story) went to the circus. Upon seeing Cheshire getting punished for messing up, Alis jumped in to save him.

Cheshire has been living with Alis ever since and Alis tries to become a hacker to "bring Cheshire home".

Edit: Worked on it some more and gave him a more boyish face

Its all about shape language males are more angular and females are softer. this doesnt always have to be the case but thats just a general rule when it comes down to it maybe make his chin a bit more square at the bottom or give him bigger eyebrows. or even make his neck bigger there are endless ways to change it up a bit it just comes down to experimentation. I think hes fine as he is if that is his design and hes meant to be more of a kid then it doesnt matter too much kids havent really developed yet and look more androgynous anyway

Yep, pretty much agree with @uggievang. It's all about how you want to present him. There are a few guys with feminine characteristics and viceversa. In this case I don't think it's as much as looking like a a girl as much as looking very young. But I think that's the idea.

Heyooooos I;m back! (Kinda)

Been super busy moving from the US to Somewhere in Asia and finishing up my old job.

I basically moved 3x in the span of a month (From US apt > Airbnb to clear apt, then from Airbnb > my aunt's house in Asia, then again from her house to an apartment close to where i will start working in a few weeks.)

Finally had some time to sit down n draw... and yay i made Cheshire cute! What a handsome boi

tho he almost looks too tall compared to alis so i might make alis a bit bigger
