First of all let me just say bravo on the color pallet, Very nice character concept I'm really feeling this one. Alright now that it's been said and done, lets dig right in shall we?
Anatomy
- Ah, you strike once again... My arch nemesis! For the most part the upper half of her body was done pretty well, despite the breast area and your hands needing work. The major problem I see is with the greaves or the leg guards. You have her body positioned in a way where you'd be seeing a lot more of that front let then you would see of the leg behind it. Her lower half in this illustration just looks very uncomfortable pose for some one to be in (but why would she care... she's dead). I believe this is also the reason for the hips looking too low on her body as well. All in all I'd mess around with the position of that left leg.
Lighting
I've gotta hurry the rest of this up because I'm in class right now but, something I saw this illustration could benefit from is a more somber lighting. A darker feel to your piece to really convey your concept for your character. This is where highlights really shine! Just think about it for a second.... Making her whole surrounding darker! Her ice cold eyes piercing through the darkness as the flames erupt casting a blueish green light upon her scarlet armor.... sick right?!... Okay, okay... I know that's just my preference but give it a go, you have nothing to lose!
Flow and expression
IM REALLY LATE TO CLASS BUT ONE LAST THING! I want to say that your flow in this piece is outstanding... a bit too outstanding! It may just be what I was talking about in the anatomy section of my critique... so check that part out first and that mat solve this problem. However what I mean by too much flow is that it feels like she's going to bend backwards if she goes any further back ( Mostly I'm talking about the waist area) Now for the expression! (IM SO LATE) I don't think it's helping your piece to have her smiling, why not try something a bit more somber and you know.... intimidating! looks thats all I have for you man keep up the good work!!!
Cheers! Exofley Signing out.
