Hi everyone!
I’ve been experimenting with AI video tools recently and tried something new that surprised me.
In one of my scenes, I focused on background characters—the people who normally never move or have any purpose in older movies.
From that, I built a little story:
A young boy sees giant robots and asks his mom, “Do they talk to people?”
She replies, “Only if you say please.”
Later, the boy says “please,” and a door actually opens for him.
The mom smiles and says:
“Saying please opens doors.”
It’s simple, but it ended up becoming a cute mini-lesson about manners, and it all started from playing with background characters who traditionally never get animated or developed.
⭐ Now my question for the community:
I’ve noticed Bob Iger (Disney’s CEO) mentioned publicly that the company is “all in on AI” for future production workflows.
I’m really interested in the AI storytelling side of things — not replacing artists, but using AI for:
rapid prototyping
story beats
animatics
alternative scene ideas
background character moments
world-building experiments
What would be the path for someone who wants to work in animation studios like Disney or Pixar specifically as an “AI prompter,” “AI story designer,” or “AI scene prototyper”?
Is this something that might eventually exist as an official role, or would it fit under story, pre-viz, or R&D?
I’d love to hear thoughts from people in the industry or anyone who understands the new direction animation is taking.
Not trying to bypass traditional skills — just curious how someone who loves idea-generation and rapid AI experimentation fits into the future of animation studios.
Thanks for reading!
