Hey guys !
Sooo, I've been holding back a little, I was waiting to finish my first draft before posting about it in fear of jinxing myself. But I think it's time I introduce my personal project.
I'm writing a novel ! I started in may '23 and I finished my first draft a few days ago ! I intend for it to be a blend between novel and comic.
The idea is to have a standard novel, but with MANY illustrations. A format kind of like what christian cline did with his "teeming universe". I also intend to add a few comic panels.
For the content. It is a xeno fantasy with syfy elements. There are no human beings. We follow Sova, a youngster that appears out of nowhere in a village of a different species. She has total amnesia and doesn't look like anything that lives in this world. The story is about her journey integrating to a society and trying to recover her memory find out where she came from.
About the illustration part of things. I need to come up with 12 sentient species coming from 8 wildly diverse ecosystems. I need to come up with 3 different architectures and ecosystems, as the story will make the reader journey through 3 species places.
I also want to include anatomy drawings and lot of naturalist-like illustrations about the world
I think I have between 2 and 3 years of work ahead of me.
I will try to find an editor once I'm done, and if I don't I will trying to mount a crowdfunding. I already thought of a few pledge tiers and stretch goals. But will see when the time comes.
Aside from artschool, I attend weekly illustration worshops to help me flesh out my world. I am very fortunate not to have to work until september so I intend to make the most out of it. Then I will take a part-time job and work on this project when I'm neither working nor artschooling.
I'll post here about my progression in this project from times to times, hopefully I can get feedback to help me streamline my stuff
