Nina - Art School Journey

Hello. My name is Nina. I have just enrolled in first term. I am from Bulgaria and I am 25yr old. Now where shall I begin I can't call myself beginner but I need to review my foundations. I skipped that part a lot in university, I wasn't the best student. I have bachelor and ongoing master degree. I worked for a year in studio for caricatures with dry pastels.
I started Art School because I want to build strong foundation, I want to make better art. My current level it is not enough for me. I want to become more confident and passionate about my art. I lack of consistency and I want to work on my habits. I still do not know what is my dream job but I am working on it.
So, I am happy to be here. It is nice to meet all of you

I want to show some starting point of my art for future comparisons. These are my most recent works.

And this is the first exercises I have done it. These were a bit of a struggle I am not sure in them at all. Maybe some poses weren't suitable for simple skeleton. Feel free to comment and critique everything (the heads above too)

Pressure control was harder than I thought. Most of the time I just adjust the size of the brush. I will keep practice this.

Hello guys. I did some gesture drawing but I did it on paper because I am too anxious to do it digital with time limit. And when I am anxious I start to have excuses First ones are for 2 minutes but I had too much time. Those which are for 1 minute was good challenge. I watched in Marc's stream to bring more attention on feet when drawing gesture. I also work on my hairy lines. C&C are welcome

Hi guys. So, this is my commission. The first one after I left the studio. I don't know if there is any problem to post it here (tell me if it is a problem :D). I only heard opinion of my ex bosses for my work. It will be nice to hear some other opinion.
I use a lot of reference. I feel more comfortable with backgrounds and usually I like my background more than my human's poses. I can my made up a background from different reference but I can't do it with poses. I only can do small changes in poses. There are things that I don't like in this piece, like my chicken lines, the light and the contrast.

Nice work Nina!

Not sure what exactly is considered small changes but 2 things did stick out to me.

1) the burger in the back seems to have a lower perspective in comparison to the car. (specifically the lower bun)

2) the upper lines for the bricks seems to sag down as it gets closer to the left.

It could just be me but those 2 things stood out to me. Good luck.

This is one of my portrait study. It is not ready but for now I will leave it this way. I pick i because there is a lot of details. The curls, the lace. I played a lot with colours. My english is too bad to express myself:D

This is some food challenge I found on insagram. First i made sketch and then I chose values. Usually I don`t make sketch because it is boring. But if I want to be better i should do this boring stuff.

And I usually work on one layer, here i have more

I finished it, finally It was harder than I thought. I overpaint it I few times until I like it (I still want to change it but I decided to stop and move on). I didn't have any idea how I want the painting to look like and this made it even harder. When I draw familiar stuff like my commission or people I draw it faster because I already have an image in head. It is really useless for me to start with gray colors. It is a good exercises but then in a process it is slows me down and bugs my colors, maybe I just have to exercise his process more.
Edit: I forgot mentioned. I have a big issue with details I want to make everything I see, I don't even like realism or hyper realism. I become anxious when I don't do it.

I set timer for 3 hours, but I did it around 6. It had to be quick study. I love overdo my paintings. My professors used to say I smash them (crack, wrack, not sure which is most suitable).

These food pieces are so amazing and these look so juicy! I love to see your studies and they always make me hungry! I don't have any grapes but an apple will have to do. Keep up the good work!

Maybe for the first time I put that much effort in structure of head. Usually I skip this part and that why in the end I see my horrible mistakes Feedback is welcomed.
