A couple of days ago I was ranting about AI and how book authors will use it in the future. I was not in a good headspace at that time and I deleted the post after one day.
I am a romance book author with the desire to also become a book illustrator. Managing BookTok, BookTube and Bookstagram are my daily tasks.
At the moment I only see a few authors who use AI to generate images for their book marketing. But I think there will be more with time. I would too, only Adobe hasn't invited me to the Firefly beta yet (I've applied for it). Currently, I feel this AI is the only one that is reasonably fair. They say they only use their stock photos to train the AI.
Yesterday I received a marketing E-Mail from one of the marketing professionals I booked a course years ago about book marketing. I didn't regret taking this course at the time, although I'm still bad at marketing. In any case, this man knows how to make money with the โinsecure self-publisher sheepโ. He offers a new course how to create book covers with AI.
And in my head sang this lady from TikTok, whose snippet of text consists of three letters. I would be rude to write the 3 letters side by side here.
Do I think the offer is shady? Of course not! He is a good teacher (and good at inventing courses nobody knew they needed).
My cursing with the W, the T and the F was more towards life. Here I am, trying to learn drawing my book charas and now the AI can do the job too (probably).
Regardless I plan to use AI generated content myself in the future I was mildly annoyed.
Recently I saw a video by Adam Duff. He reflects a lot about AI art. He says the AI is incapable of creating concepts. That comforted me for the moment.
(I hope this post is within the rules of this category. It says above that we can write down our thoughts here.)
