So with these gesture drawings they aren't really 60 seconds. I really struggled with gesture drawing the first time around and just did not get it. So this time around I wanted to take some time to learn it properly and memorise the step by step process for capturing gesture. I dont know if not using a timer for a lot of these was beneficial or more detrimental but I learned some stuff so I would say more beneficial but I definitely learned more later down the line forcing myself to stick to a timer.
Anyway, I watched Gesture and Anatomy - Full Demo Lesson by Michael Hampton:https://www.proko.com/lesson/gesture-and-anatomy-full-demo/notes
Which I found super useful and helped me a lot to understand the concept and get better at it which I think shows in my later gesture drawings (not so much this batch).
So I found this saved file from 11/08/24 which was one of my first attempts to draw cylinders when I first started this course (around that time) which I was too embarrassed to post back then as I think it is just awful. However I am posting it now as it is nice to see the comparison of the cylinders I am drawing now and the ones I drew back then.
So I tried to do something this time from when I did the circles exercise the first time as I felt like I did not get much out of it. This time I wanted to draw through the circles repeatedly going around the circle, often multiple times, while staying on or near the same path.
In hindsight the way I approached the straight line exercises both times was mostly a waste of time. I put very little thought into it and just slapped lines down not paying attention to where they started and where they end so now when I go to draw a straight line I still struggle with precision. So if I were to do this again I would definitely focus on that.
