Since i'm posting things before my usual posting schedule, i'm in need of some feedback, i'm not very good at drawing heads, so is there any grotesque errors here that i'm not seeing?
I havent seen the eyes lesson yet that is why they are not there.

Looking pretty good to my eyes. Good job! heads are hard X_X

Only small things I notice: In side profile view, maybe the nose is drooping a bit much and the point at which the occipital bone bends in and meets the neck is probably a little higher up
In frontal view the nostrils and lips are slightly asymmetrical and the neck width suggested seems wider than on the other two

hey all, work has been rough last couple days, had almost no time for art unfortunately, gonna dump a couple things that i manage to do here, mostly the challenge that it is finished, and the heads, that i hope its fixed XD, that i posted the other day, happy weekend everybody and thanks for passing by

Awesome work! Loving the skull and animation
Heads are looking very good! Do note at the side of the orbits that there is a little thickness there (they don’t reach the edge of the head) just like in the skull drawing and that on the two thirds angle you will see the outer contour of the figure’s right orbit go down -in front- of the contour of the cheek bone (zygomatic bone) and not directly connected like an open V shape, rather more like a T intersection - I get this wrong a lot myself but I think it’s important to look out for now that I am trying to render the heads

Hey oh, gonna be posting things without a schedule for now on, way less pressure that way, i did a face that i think looks pretty good, but i don't know, making lines of measure does feels a bit cheati.

I first draw over the reference, then put some horizontal lines for measure and drew again on the side using these horizontal measuring lines, it feels wrong you know, gonna try again without the measure lines to see whats up

Personally, I don’t consider it cheating. That said, some people actually will think that and depending on your goals as an artist it can be a crutch if you depend on it. But at this point, if you learn from it then I say go for it. The off putting thing for me is when someone makes something one way and claims otherwise - implying a problem with a given method and feeling ashamed of it/ hiding it etc.

I’ve read about artists that would use a wall with a small hole and a lens to trace the perspective of a landscape onto a canvas way back when. And have seen modern artists use tracing for large paintings - making the lineart on something smaller and then using a projector to trace it onto a very large canvas

Thanks for the reply @snakker , yeah i don't really want to rely on it, that said i did another one, but without the horizontal lines this time, still traced over the reference first tho, to get a better fell of the volumes and such, then drew again on the side.

And i wanted to play around with the timeline of the photoshop again, so here is the process also. Towards the end i moved the eyes and mouth around to fit better, looking at it now i should have moved the nose too, but oh well.

Gonna try without tracing over the reference first now to see what's up

I did it, managed to draw the face i struggled yesterday, man the reference has such a weird face to draw, the proportions where all over the place, it bugged me real hard.

i didn't really wanted to full on render the piece so i only suggested the render, call it artistic style if you will, i will call it laziness and insecurity tho.

Man, likeness is so hard to achieve, i wonder if it's even possible without rendering it, and just to be noted, that was hard as hell.

Do note her eyelids are more rounded and her brows are thinner and more angled. Nostrils a tal longer and more angled downward, narrower so as you can barely see the outline on the opposite side, and the upper lips are just a little flatter with a thick vermillion border

Hey, i'm glad you like then, i gonna answer with a quote from a reply that i did some time ago, not much changed since then so the answer still holds up, long story short, i've been doing gesture for a looong time.

Oh wow, what a question, it all comes down to the good old practice, I've been doing gesture since 2020? I wanna say end of 2020 but I'm not so sure, anyways, a long time, and I absolutely sucked at it and, believe it or not, I still think I suck at it, but waaay less than when I started at it, I will try to answer your question in the best way I could manage, but basically when I'm doing gesture I try to focus mainly in the three main masses and the weight/balance of the body, I start by drawing the head and try to show where's it looking at using a cross, then drawn the line of action starting from the bottom of the neck all the way down to the croch or upper part of the butt, I try to really exaggerate the curve of that line, then I look for witch leg is holding the weight of the body, I usually do one stroke to represent it, then the other leg and so on, arms usually don't matter that much, if I have time I try to drawn the landmarks of the body, especially the bottom part of ribcage and try to indicate any foreshortening by using ellipses, I find out that after you start to learn the very beginning of anatomy it seems like everything just clicks, of anatomy, I only know about bones and pecs, but only that inicial knowledge helped me so much in doing gesture, oh and I remember doing proko's free version of the figure drawing course in his website, that helped me soo much that is unreal, about the line economy thing, I have a book from Andrew Loomis, figure drawn for all it's worth it, in there, there's a simplified version of a figure manekin, I inspire my gestures heavily on that manekin, hope this helps.

@snakker man, it feels like your feedback opens my eyes everytime, thank you very much, i really appreciate it. I refined her a bit using your feedback, and somethings i catch on later when i was analyzing her, mostly her masseter muscle and her lower lip that it feels a bit more angled, i also rendered just a bit, but it is as far as i'm willing to go with her, still not 1:1 but i'm quite happy with the result

job's been rough, not much today, just two poorly draw thumbnails of a intimidating gate, i tried drawing the 3 point perspective assigment without planning and it went terribly, i been having so much trouble envisioning a gate that is unreal, that's why i'm trying the thumbnail approach, gonna see if i can draw one of then with propper perspective later
