thank you, also realized i placed the cheek bone a bit too forward i think, at least where it starts. But I am starting to place the parts in their locations and will probably do some ear practice soon after some time doing some more heads with parts on em. Thank you again for the feedback

Yo great work on these studies, I commend you for adding necks to all of them that will prove really helpful
I also agree with your observation on the line placement as it would start off right at the external auditory meatus (the hole under the tragus of the ear)

Hello all, started ears and have been doing a little bit over the week. I dont know exactly how i feel about them, they dont seem bad to me but i feel like i can probably do better, i just dont know where to improve it first. I will place some of the practices below and if anyone has any critique please come forward, but anyways thank you all and i hope you all have a good week.

Hey all, over the last week i pretty much just did an assortment of practices. Gestures, heads ears and the like. Started the nose portion of the lesson on Sunday and I have to say this is a bit more difficult than most of what I've done so far. It could have been because i had a bunch of different distractions going on but even so it seemed like more. I'm going to continue to study the lesson and try to improve but for now ill post the bit i did while watching the lesson. If anyone has any tips please let me know. Good studies. Things I am noticing, one is that you tend to elongate things a bit vertically (some of the ears and the head on the right) Second thing I would recommend is to watch out for the placement of the ball of the nose vs the base (where the nostrils attach to the face). It helps to draw the 3D construction or at least a pyramid when in 3/4 view to make sure it doesn't come out flat. In the case of the head on the left for example, I think there would be more of an angle inwards at the glabella and then a slant outwards for the nose as the ball reaches closer to the contour of the figure's right chin (to our left)

I see exactly what you mean, The elongation might be the answer to a question I've been asking myself a lot. Which is, why sometimes something looked a funny with my heads. So ill keep an eye out for if i start to make parts too long again. Thanks for the second tip as well, i just looked through the other practices I've done this week and I've misplaced the ball/ haven't had that correct tilt for almost every one. Thank you for pointing these mistakes out! Ill do my best to correct them.

Hello all, hope you’ve been well. As an update on how things are going with my nose studies, I feel like I’m stagnant. I’m spending a lot of time studying a single head and nose and not making much progress with making it look correct.. I’m pretty sure I understand what I’m doing wrong, say like the glabella doesn’t look like it’s going inward. But I can’t fix it for the life of me. I don’t know what approach I should take for this. I haven’t been satisfied with really any practices lately. I don’t want to take a break because I start to feel guilty. Was also wondering that if I don’t take a break, should i push in more practices despite the frustration or if I should keep my same pace. If anyone has had a similar experience I’d appreciate some advice. Here is a small sample of what I’ve done recently, the ones with more drawn out lips are from today ( 4/7 ) just to give an idea of where I was most recently at. Sorry for the long post this week. Sometimes it is better to take a break and don't draw for few days than tire yourself and don't draw for few weeks. But it all depends on person. For example there I times when I will push myself but I know when to take a break and relax. When you are frustrated you might get only more frustrated. If you feel guilty draw something for fun and come back later to your studies

Front facing faces are good
3rd picture middle head - you would see less nose bridge(?) in this angle and eye sockets are too wide; right head - left (their right) eyebrow would be shorter and angled a bit now it looks as if it is looking forwartd

Ill probably take your advice and take a break and depending on how i feel l might still draw some characters or something. Ill be busy this weekend anyways cuz easter stuff.

But I appreciate the analysis on head & sending the link. Ill be using the link every time i practice. Ill also try to make good use of what you said about that head i completely botched and make sure i don't do that again lol.

Hello all, late post for the week. But I feel like I maybe made some progress, however little that progress may be. I see my work everyday so it’s hard to tell how much progress I’m really making. So I’ll leave the true progress report to my absolute best source. (you guys) There is a small sample of what was done for the week, these being over the last 3 days. Bottom is most recent. Also a side note, I am still spending a lot of time on a single head so I might focus on going faster, at least to a reasonable speed. Looks good so far! You definitely are doing a good job at focusing on the head fundamental.

I think it's already to spend some time on a single head if it helps you work and break the head down. Sometime, it's best to work on your knowledge than your speed. Keep it up!

I agree with Gordon.. Take your time with your studies. Keep up the good work! I can definitely see the progress and as long as you're working consistently you will improve even if it's hard to see for yourself from day to day ( happens with me as well )

@Gordon003 Thank you thank you. Yeah I’ve been telling myself something similar, and trying to at least gleam some new insight when looking at a reference.

@olashamala Thank you I will try, but yeah I think with things like art it’s hard to tell until you are further down the line. That’s why things like this forum are great. A bunch of people from different skill levels who can gauge your progress in a way you can’t. As well as find some common struggle and success with others. It helps give perspective and direction, as well as motivation. It’s also why I’m so appreciative of feedback.

You guys are both right though I guess I just wanna get to a point where drawing the head is child’s play already. But if I’m taking a while anyways might as well make sure it’s time properly spent and use it to get impale my head with the knowledge until it’s there permanently. In turn becoming more consistent. Which is probably more important. Thank you for the replies, I always appreciate your time. Hope you both have a great week.

Hello all, practices this week haven’t gone bad I don’t think, little inconsistent but that’ll fix overtime. Below is the last 3-4 days of practice, didn’t draw much on the day I watched the lesson video. The third grouping of heads I was crazy tired but still wanted to get some practice in & they don’t look great imo. I wanted to include them still tho bc they kinda represent the low point atm. Other than that I went further into the head lesson, to the eyes and lips. So the last bit is what I did while following along. I have a lot to work on with every bit of the head still but in a better position than I was before i think. Also I know my shading needs a lot of work so I will start to do more shading practices that way my heads can have some more form to em. As always any advice, critique or tips is welcome and very appreciated. Hope everyone has a prosperous week.

Hello all, not much to say this week. I practiced less than I probably should have this week as is kinda obvious by the amount of heads below. But I am making something personal. The quality varies of the practices I think. The notable dips are on the ones with a bottom - up view. This week I’ll continue to put some emphasis on this particular angles and make sure to get in more practice. Also will probably move on soon, but as always any advice, critiques

Hello all, this week was mad busy but I still made time to practice. So at the end of this week I decided to finish up the anatomy 1 video and did a follow along then later that night I re did the head from memory. I looked back at my follow along three times but mostly just felt on my face to get an idea for shading / structure if I forgot haha. Obviously I’ll still practice as I still have a chasm of room for improvement but I cant only improve heads forever lol. I spent a long time on heads and I think I’ve improved a decent amount considering the time passed so far. So here is the checkpoint (idk what else to call it). Any critiques advice or feedback on this are greatly appreciated (especially the shading). I hope everyone has success in their art journeys or projects this week.

Shading came out nice but his right eye appears smaller than the other one because of it. Eyes are good but at first they look uneven. Nose look good.

Piece from memory - head should be smaller. And eyebrows are a bit off. Usually beginning follows glabella angle and at the end it would curve a bit earlier
